Non-league
Boys

NESHAMINY 67, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 62

Sparked by the 25-point effort of Logan Gale, the Redskins - who led for the better part of Wednesday’s contest – earned the important non-league win.
“We finally got one,” Neshaminy coach Mark Tingle said. “We’ve been in games lately. PW was a five-point game. Bensalem we had the lead in the fourth quarter and lost in overtime. We had a really tough holiday schedule against Upper Moreland and Cardinal O’Hara, so we’ve played some really tough teams lately.
“We lost six of seven, so it was really nice to get back and get a good win. This was our biggest signature win. They were 11-4 going into the game, so it was definitely a good win for us.”
Kay players: Neshaminy’s Logan Gale scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the second half, 13 in the fourth quarter when he was 6-for-7 from the foul line. Max Currie added 14 points – eight in the first half. Jason Leiva had 11 points – eight after the break, and Jason Gilardi had nine.
For the Patriots, Shane O’Hara Jamison led the way with 21 points, Nolan Behm added 12 and AJ Molnar had 11.
Neshaminy coach Mark Tingle on the game: “We were up five after one quarter, we were up by six at halftime. We would get big leads, and then they would cut it. Then we would get a big lead, and they would cut it. It was 26-20 at the half, but it was actually 26-14 with a little over a minute left. We were up 12, and they cut it to six.
“We were up nine at the end of the third quarter, and at the very beginning of the fourth, we were up by 15, but then they brought it right back down and got it all the way down to four. We had the lead for most of the game since the fourth quarter, but they weren’t going away.”
--Props: “Logan (Gale) had 25. He does a good job when he has the ball in his hands and is attacking. Max Curie had 14, and Jason Laiva had 11, Jason Gilardi had nine, and we were sharing the ball.
“Logan scored a lot, which we need him to do. Max has been a rock inside for us all year, but it was definitely a team effort. It was good to have a team win against a very good team and kind of get back on track a litte bit.”
--Capitalizing at the line: “We haven’t done this in a while – we went 18-for-24 at the foul line, which was huge for us. As a team, we haven’t been shooting free throws very well. Logan (Gale) was 8 of 9, and generally, we shot well from the free throw line which helped down the stretch because they had to foul us, and we made a lot of free throws.”
--A challenging stretch: “We played last night against PW because we’re in the crossovers right now. We had the one seed. PW’s really tough, we know East is tough, and Cheltenham is going to be tough on Friday. We knew it was going to be a tough week. We played PW really well last night, but they got us in the end. It was good to get the win tonight.”
Neshaminy (7-8, 2-3 SOL will be on the road at Cheltenham for a non-league game Friday, and Central Bucks East (11-5, 2-3) will celebrate Senior Recognition Night when the Patriots host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a non-league game Friday.

Girls
WILLIAM TENNENT 72, ACADEMY OF THE NEW CHURCH 43

The Panthers took a 31-24 lead into halftime and then put some distance between themselves and ANC with a 22-point third quarter. Tennent outscored ANC 36-18 in the second half.
Key players: Avery Kocur scored a career-high 31 points in a dazzling offensive effort. She scored 15 in the first half and added 16 in the third quarter. Included in her 31 points were seven 3-pointers. Megan Volz added 19 points, and Halie Staub also finished in double figures with 10.
William Tennent coach Laura Whitney: “Nice team win today.  We had great contributions up and down the lineup.
“The first half I wasn’t happy with our defense.  We didn’t play with much intensity, and we seemed disconnected.  Our rotations were late, we didn’t communicate, and we did a poor job of rebounding.
“At halftime, we made some adjustments to our defense and challenged the girls to play with some pride. The girls really answered the call. Not only did they lock in on the defensive end, but it resulted in an offensive explosion.  We got back to playing the up-tempo style of basketball we’re accustomed to, and even in the half court, we were sharing the ball and getting great looks.
--Props: “Avery was being assertive and scoring at all three levels.  She scored a new career high 31 points.
“Staub played with lots of energy and chipped in 10 points, but what was even more impressive was the way she got her teammates involved and her unselfish plays.
“Meg (Big V) Volz continues to raise her game.  The way she battles around the basket and doesn’t back down is so impressive.  She finished with a career high 19 points.
“We also had several girls chip in with 2-3 points, which is huge for our team success.  We always stress that it’s a collective effort and everyone plays a part in our success. Whether it’s their energy on the bench, diving on the floor for loose balls, pulling down a big rebound, or scoring points; everyone has a role and can make an impact.”

Up next: William Tennent (9-6, 2-3) will travel to Bensalem on Friday for a non-league game.

HARRY S TRUMAN 50, NORRISTOWN 39
The Tigers notched their second win of the season, and their improved play under first-year coach Ravilia McMiller was underscored in Wednesday’s  win – a game they led for the better part of four quarters.
Key players: Shylah McCleve (14 points), Julianna Romer (12 points), Brie Philemond (11 points).
Harry S Truman coach Ravilia McMiller: “This was huge. They have grown tremendously from the beginning of the season. Their confidence is very high, and they’re understanding how to win.
“It’s been a struggle in the beginning, but they’re seeing the progress. It’s great.”
--Key to the team’s progress: “I think the confidence and just holding them accountable and the commitment to them I think has been the change and just building a program and having them buy in to what it is that we’re trying to do as a coaching staff and as a program.”
