CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 13, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 7
The Patriots opened SOL play with an impressive win over the Golden Hawks under the lights at War Memorial Field on Friday night. They took a 10-5 lead into halftime and never looked back. East coach Kelly White, who led Pennsbury to a National Conference title last year, was more than familiar with the Golden Hawks, who her Falcon squad faced twice in National Conference play each season.
“They’re a nice team,” White said. “She (Ashley Muenker) has done a nice job in her two years of turning them into a nice competitive team, so I was extremely happy.
“The key is right now we’re playing a very aggressive style. They give the game everything they have. We just have to work on becoming a little bit more comfortable when we are in the lead and have possession. I think that’s going to come with a young team with experience and time. I thought they put in a fantastic effort. They played their hearts out tonight, and I think it showed up in the score. It’s very exciting. It’s a good start.”
Julia Norek, Alex Law and Michaela Daley each contributed the hat trick to lead a balanced Patriot attack. Norek and Law also both had an assist. Maggie Stella had two goals and one assist, and Katelyn Stout and Lauren Burrell both had one goal, and Betty Wesney had one assist. Goalie Alana Rivas was credited with 12 saves.
“One of the keys to our success tonight was our goalkeeper Alana,” White said. “She had some beautiful clears that led to nice transition.
“Maggie Stella played really well in the midfield and draw controls as well as Julia Norek and Alex offensively had a great game. Sarah Donnelly, a freshman defender, played fantastic as well, and a shout out to our other freshman (Daley) who had three goals. They all chip away and put their efforts in.”
Gabby Rosenfeld led the Golden Hawks with three goals while Nikki Boyd had one goal and one assist, and Molly Sheehy and Meg Sheehy each had single goals.

“We knew going into today’s game that it was going to be a hard-fought win,” coach Kelly Kelly said. “Upper Dublin girls’ lacrosse has such a great winning tradition and an amazing coach, so we knew it was going to be a tough game.
“Upper Dublin made us work for every goal we scored. We started out slow, and Upper Dublin capitalized on opportunities we presented. They are very composed and well coached.”
Natalie Bulgier led the Indians with the hat trick while Chessie Rehmer had two goals and three assists. Rachel Judge and Amber Lambeth both had two goals. Nikki Palmer and Ally Sonn each added one goal and one assist.

Shannon Reape had one assist. Sarah Gallagher turned away 18 shots in goal for the Flying Cardinals while Kelly Williams had 13 saves for the Indians.
The win was the second in as many years for Kelly over her alma mater.
“Dee (Cross) has been someone I have looked up to for a very long time, and I have learned so much from her,” Kelly said of the Upper Dublin coach. “Julie Cross was a big presence on the field today and very hard to defend.
“At halftime, we adjusted a few things and talking about setting the pace to our game speed. We picked up our transition game, and the midfield did a great job causing some key turnovers. Our girls really came together toward the end to pull out the win. I am very proud of how hard my girls worked in the second half. They didn’t back down and earned their win today.”
