Non-league

SOUDERTON 10, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 8

Sparked by the four-goal effort of Lauren Hallman, the Indians opened up their season with a hard fought non-league win.

“Tegan Farina played an awesome game in goal today with nine saves,” Souderton coach Claudia LaMarca said. “She really kept our cool when we needed to control the game by maintaining possession and momentum and helping slow the pace of the game.

“We played man down for a good chunk of the second half due to cards — credit to both ends for making the smart play. Ang Borisow controlled the ball for us on the draw and between the 30’s which was huge.

“Overall, today was a complete team effort from the attack to the defense, start to finish. The heart and the hustle was everything we were preaching for game #1.”

Also for the Indians, Reiley Knize and Avery Farina both contributed two goals and one assist while Borisow and Yasmin Khatri each had one goal and one assist.

Souderton (1-0) will travel to Methacton for a non-league game on Monday.
