Ridge Schultz also had a big night for the Indians, finishing the night with three goals and four assists. Trevor Zwaan added the hat trick to go along with four ground balls.
“Trevor shot the ball really well tonight,” Pettit said. “His shooting was very on point. I know he’s been working on it, and he’s getting better. He had strong play really finishing for us.”

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 14, SOUDERTON 8
What a difference three weeks can make.
On March 29, the Indians defeated the Bucks 20-10. On Friday night, the Bucks returned the favor, upending the Indians for the first time in recent memory.
The difference this time around?
“Certainly we had the home field advantage, but we came off a pretty tough loss against Hatboro,” West coach Tara Schmucker said of the Bucks’ 18-5 loss to the undefeated Hatters on Wednesday. “We have several seniors, and their goal is to take one game at a time and hopefully strive for the playoffs.
“They knew coming into this game that this game was a deal breaker for the playoffs.”
Another big difference this time around was the presence of Kyra Bregere in goal.
“She was not in cage the last time we played them, and she had over 50 percent save percentage with 10 saves tonight, which was just huge,” Schmucker said. “Overall, I think it was just the level of intensity – we came to play.
“They were more confident, and they weren’t intimidated like they were the first game.”
Senior Tara Shugars set the tone for the Bucks with four goals, three ground balls and two draw controls.
“She was all over the field,” Schmucker said. “She just had an overall solid game.”
Sophomore Elena Romesburg added two goals, one assist, three draw controls, eight grounds balls and two caused turnovers.
“Elena also played really well,” the Bucks’ coach said. “She was just a really big presence in the midfield.”
Jacq Fitzgerald and Paige Savard both added two goals and one assist while Amanda Parker also had two goals. Jane Savard had one goal and two assists, and Sarah Gebre added a single goal to close out the scoring for the Bucks.
“This was huge,” Schmucker said. “It’s breaking the line from being a good team to being a great team, which is something they have been striving for all season. They have it – they’re right there. They just needed a game like this to have more confidence and realize they can play with the best teams as long as they’re competitive and they come out fighting.”
While the Indians fell to 4-3 in the league (5-3 overall), the Bucks improved to 3-4 in the league (7-4 overall).

“As a coach, it’s just really nice to see – they have been working all year, and they have been really fighting,” Schmucker said. “For them to execute and have everyone all around have a nice game was just nice to see. Hopefully, we can hold that consistency the rest of the season because every game from here on out is going to be a deal breaker.”
The Indians were led by Chessie Rahmer’s hat trick. Carley Kendall, Liz Mower, Amber Lambeth, Alyssa Ziegler and Megan McDermott each scored one goal. Jen Bergey turned away seven shots in goal for the Indians while Kaitlin Crouthamel had two saves.
