Boys
RADNOR 7, ABINGTON 6
In a classic battle between the district powers, the Ghosts trailed by two with 1:30 remaining but scored a goal at the 1:05 mark to make it a 7-6 game. They came within inches of sending the game into overtime.
“We won the faceoff,” coach Joe Staerk said. “Hunter Jones had a clean sweep across and hit the post with 10 seconds left to end the game.
“The game was a dogfight to the end. It was a very tough loss. They are a good team, but today we proved we are a very good team.”
Joe Lomady connected for the hat trick to lead the Ghosts. Hunter Jones had a goal and assist, and Will Dulin had a pair of assists. Joe Bisaquino and Matt Gormley each added a single goal. Gus Greenberg had an assist to close out the scoring for the Ghosts.
HOLY GHOST PREP 9, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 8 (OT)
The Golden Hawks lost a tough non-league battle in overtime. Shane Magrann led the Hawks with the hat trick. Kyle Walter scored two goals, and Brendan Francis, Mitchell Vaysman and Colin Patterson each added one goal. Patterson also won 15 of 18 face offs.
Austin Devinny was credited with 20 saves in goal for the Golden Hawks.
“Ghost hustled all day,” Rock South coach John Hiron said. “Their ‘D’ really played well.”
Girls
ABINGTON 9, SPRINGFIELD 7
Jennie Van Buren led the Ghosts with the hat trick to go along with one assist. Meredith Cox and Mikki Raymond each added a pair of goals. Raymond also had two assists. Allison Rooney and Hannah Sjoholm both had single goals. Katerina Thallner closed out the scoring for the Ghosts with an assist.
The Falcons were led by Sarah Rosa’s hat trick. Juli Cardamone added a pair, and Kate Morris and Colleen Morris each had single goals. Kate Morris also had an assist for the Spartans, who held an 18-15 advantage in shots.
Kate Margolis turned away nine shots in goal for the Ghosts.
