SPRINGFIELD 9, WISSAHICKON 7
The Spartans were happy they had the opportunity to face the Trojans again after their disappointing to loss to them a week ago in a game where they received seven yellow cards and played three men down for a large chunk of the second half.
“This was a game we felt we had a chance to win, and we made it a point to tell ourselves we haven’t played (Wissahickon) yet,” said Springfield coach Ken Rodoff.  “We wanted to see how it played out today in an even game in which we had every right to walk away victorious.”
The Spartans started off the game strong, jumping out to a 4-1 lead before receiving their first and only card of the game.
“We won early draw control battles and played a very spread out settled attack,” said Rodoff.  “We tried to play possession lacrosse, and we were able to convert on our possessions and limit unforced turnovers, which has been a goal of ours all season.”
The Trojans called a timeout and then erased the Spartans lead, scoring two while they were playing a man down due to the penalty to make the halftime score 4-3. However, in the second half, the Spartans regained their composure and started stretching their lead once again.
“In the second half, it was a matter of us being committed to winning the game,” said Rodoff. “Everyone was committed to playing ‘straight up’ and not giving the refs a chance to make calls.”
Although the Trojans were finding their stride, they were still faced with the fact that they had lost Juli Cardamone midway through the first half with a head injury. With their key playmaker and UConn recruit on the bench, Rodoff entrusted the job to a varsity newcomer Bailey Krewson.
“Krewson is a player we pulled up from jayvee two weeks ago, and she has been working hard,” the Spartans’ coach said. “She played the remainder of the game and really hustled and didn’t skip a beat. She came in and seamlessly fit in with the rest of the team and helped in transition.”
Colleen Morris led the attack for the Spartans in the victory with four goals, while Libby Field added a pair and Riley Greenleaf, Sarah Rosa and Kate Morris each chipped in a single goal.
The Trojans’ scoring was led by Laura Irvine with three goals. Zoe Gomez added two goals, and Laura Frankenfield and Bailey Weber rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.  Trojan keeper Julie Silverman registered five saves and Mariel Mancini turned away nine shots for the Spartans, who won the first game of what they are calling their “home-stand,” which consists of four consecutive home games.
“We are going to use it as a push to bolster our record and boost our confidence,” said Rodoff.
Springfield upped their record to 6-2 in the American Conference (6-4 overall) while Wissahickon is now 6-3 in the league (7-3 overall)

She was getting the ball on the defensive end, and she stepped up all over the field.”
Midway through the second half, the Bucks stretched their lead to 14-8 before experiencing a letdown which allowed a late scoring surge for the Rams who frantically tried to get back in the game, but it was too little too late.
Sarah Gebre, Amanda Gundlach and Paige Savard each added a pair of goals for the Bucks in the victory while Jane Savard rounded out the scoring with a single goal.
“We had nice transitions tonight,” said Schmucker. “We were taking it up the field and we were seeing some really good looks and getting some good shots.”

The Bucks (4-4 SOL, 6-5 overall) now look ahead to Thursday when they host crosstown rival CB East, which has been knocking down some top Continental Conference teams this season.
