Wissahickon 15, Norristown 4
The Norristown boys lacrosse team’s home turf debut didn’t go as planned, with American Conference opponent Wissahickon posting a 15-4 victory on Tuesday, but it was a red letter day for the Eagles.
“It was great,” Norristown coach Jeff Calhoun said of the team’s new digs. “We got to use the scoreboard. The kids loved it, and I was really happy for them, especially the seniors. It was a big thing for them, and I think it made them feel good. It gives them more school pride, makes them feel like they’re getting the support of the school.”

The game marked the first time the boys’ lacrosse team had stepped onto its home turf.
“We didn’t even practice on the turf before our first game,” Calhoun said. “It’s going to make the game easier for the guys. It’ll make it easier to make bounce passes, they’ll be able to cut better without slipping. There are no bumps or holes or clouds of dust.”

Girls Lacrosse

Central Bucks West 12, Central Bucks South 4
The Titans jumped out to a 3-0 lead just over 10 minutes into Tuesday’s contest after Megan Hamilton connected on her second goal of the game.
The rest of the game belonged to the Bucks, who recuperated from a slow start to reel off 11 unanswered goals. The win avenged a 7-6 loss to the Titans in an early season meeting and came on the heels of West’s big win over Souderton.
“This is huge,” West coach Tara Schmucker said. “They know after the Souderton game that every game from here on out is a deal breaker, but what we really have been working on is improving each and every practice and each and every game and just making sure we’re playing consistently and that we’re implementing the things we’re working on at practice.
“We’re definitely hoping to ride out the rest of the season like this and try and get a few more wins under our belt. With the leadership we have, we can do it.”
The Bucks’ 11-0 run was highlighted not only by goals but by West’s ability to dominate the draws and win the battle for ground balls.
“Coach Schmucker stresses that those are the two stats that will determine a win or a loss in a game,” West senior Amanda Parker said.
The Bucks were led by the three-goal effort of Elena Romesburg while teammates Tara Shugars, Jess Circuit, Steph Cooper and Sarah Gebre each added a pair of goals. Jane Savard had a single goal.  Christy Grezeszak, Gebre, Circuit and Shugars all had one assist.
“Coming off of the win over Souderton – that really helped a lot of the underclassmen to believe we are a great team and we can do this,” Parker said. “Coach talks about it all the time. She’s like, ‘You guys are a good team. You need to believe that.’
“The Souderton game was so much fun. We were all on the same page, and I think that helped us get on the same page. Now we know we can beat our sister schools – we can beat the CB Souths, we can beat the CB Easts.
“I’m having so much fun my senior year. It’s really been awesome.”
The Titans received two goals from both Hamilton and Maddie DiBrino.
“It came down to basic fundamantals, and it was ground balls and draw controls,” South coach Janique Craig said. “We were playing defense for about eight minutes, and we had opportunities to get possession. We should have capitalized on CB West mistakes and we didn’t. There were about eight or nine ground balls that we should have had, and we didn’t.”
South goalie Leslie Searles turned away eight shots while West’s Kyra Bergere had 13 saves.
While the Titans fell to 3-5 in league play (5-4 overall), the Bucks improved to 4-4 in the league (8-4 overall).
