Boys Lacrosse

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 9, HATBORO-HORSHAM 7
In a marquee lacrosse matchup that lived up to its billing, Hatboro sprinted to an early 4-0 lead and still led 4-1 after one quarter only to watch the Patriots return the favor in the second quarter as they outscored the Hatters 4-1, sending the two teams into halftime deadlocked 5-5.
East won the game in the fourth quarter, silencing the Hatters’ offense with some stellar defense and scoring a pair of goals to go on top 7-5. Both teams scored two goals in the fourth quarter.
The Patriots were led by the two-goal efforts of Matt Milici, Matt Heim and Zach Kane while Christopher Schneekloth, Parker Self and Ethan Debuque each added single goals. Debuque and Chris Vetter both had an assist.
Harrison Holak was credited with 15 saves in goal in a solid outing for the Patriots while Ryan Connor led the defense with three ground balls.
The Hatters were led offensively by Trevor Downing with two goals while Jake Durkin, Pat Downing, Jimmy Murphy, Jimmy Durking and Ryan Higgins each added one goal. Durkin, Dom DeFazio and Murphy all contributed an assist. DeFazio also had four ground balls. Mark Poust also had big night in goal, turning away 16 shots. Steve Palo led the Hatters with five ground balls.

NESHAMINY 12, SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 5
Freshman Matt Magdelinskas had a big day for the Redskins, contributing five goals and one assist. Teammate Alex McKenzie added the hat trick to go along with one assist while Gary Tippy had a pair of goals. John Blickle (one assist) and Matt Miller each contributed single goals. Mike Pfender and Andrew Pavonarious both had an assist. Austin Marshall (eight saves) and Troy Jones (two saves) combined to turn away 10 shots for the Redskins, who upped their record to 3-1.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 9, SOUDERTON 6
Souderton received the hat trick from Tyler MacDougall while Trevor Zwaan added two goals and one assist. Drew Nice had two assists. Goalie Tyler Zwaan turned away 16 shots for the Indians.

WISSAHICKON 15, NORRISTOWN 3
Sean Calhoun scored a pair of goals while teammate Pat Owens added a goal and two assists. Drew Baltrus added an assist to round out Norristown’s scoring.

Girls Lacrosse

PENNSBURY 15, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 8
Joy Hopkins had a huge day, contributing six goals and one assist and leading the Falcons to their first win of the season. Kelsy Gumbert added the hat trick as well as two assists. Alyssa Matthews (one assist), Elle Fagan and Jackie Sweeney (two assists) each added two goals. Lori Blazejewski chipped in with an assist. Liana Eyre faced 23 shots and goal and turned away 15. The Falcons held a 25-23 advantage in shots over the Jems.

BAYARD RUSTIN 14, ABINGTON 12
Rustin opened up a 9-7 halftime lead on its way to the non-league win. Junior Meredith Cox scored seven goals to lead the Ghosts while Elisa MacColl added the hat trick. Jeannie Van Buren and Katerina Thallner both contributed single goals. Allison Rooney and Hannah Sjoholm both chipped in assists. Sjoholm also had five draw controls. Kate Margolis was credited with seven saves in goal for the Ghosts, who fell to 0-3.

ACADEMY OF THE NEW CHURCH 15, UPPER MERION 11
Freshman Julia Reinert scored four goals to lead the Vikings. Mel Ryan and Liz Botto each added two goals. Dominique Gambone contributed one goal and three assists while Brooke Dubin and Natalie McGrath each scored a goal for the Vikings (2-1).
