BOYS
CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE
Central Bucks East 3, Pennridge 1
The Rams (3-10 SOL) were the first to get on the board after Tim Kulesza connected early in the first half. East’s Ben Marks (Evan Vare assist) answered back, knotting the game 1-1 at the half. Mark Phillipson found Marks for a second half goal that put the Patriots on top 2-1. Vare scored the final goal off an assist from Ryan Gleason.
The Patriots, who are 11-3-1 overall and 9-3-1 in the league, will face Central Bucks South on Thursday to determine their final finish in the league. North Penn and East are currently tied for second place in the conference, but a lot could change this week as regular season play comes to an end.
North Penn 2, Central Bucks West 1
The Bucks took an early 1-0 lead, but the Knights rallied to knot the score by halftime on a goal by Drew McMenamin. The Knights scored the winning goal on a penalty kick by Matt Robinson in the 55th minute. The Knights remain tied for second in the conference standings with a 9-3-1 record.
AMERICAN CONFERENCE
Cheltenham 4, Upper Merion 1
This conference bout started off relatively dry but ended at the half messy and miserable. The Panthers started off strong, scoring their first goal in the eighth minute when Kyree Willis-Lear found the net. Eight minutes later, Fabrice Agbadan scored, and soon after that Chris Jean-Louis scored to increse the Panthers’ lead to 3-0. The Vikings answered with their first goal, but the Panthers couldn’t be stopped, not even by the rain, as Agbadan scored again with three minutes left in the half. The game was halted at halftime due to the weather conditions.
The Panthers (7-6 SOL) finish out their season with a league game against Norristown on Wednesday and a non-league game against Council Rock North on Friday. The Vikings (1-11-1 SOL) visit Upper Dublin on Wednesday.

Upper Dublin 5, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1
NATIONAL CONFERENCE
William Tennent 1, Council Rock South 0
The Panthers improved to 5-7 in the league as they knocked the Golden Hawks out of the running for the conference title after their upset victory on Monday. For 79 minutes, neither team could find the net. Finally, with 54 seconds remaining, Joe Traynor found himself taking a free kick from outside the 18-yard line. He split it over the wall, and it slipped past the Hawks’ keeper for the win.
Panthers coach Luke Gibson was thrilled with his team’s result.
“It was our most complete performance of year,” he said. “We generated a lot of chances.”
Gibson is hoping this upset win along with a few non-league victories will give his team a shot at being one of the teams to make it to the playoffs.
“This puts us closer to .500,” “he said. “We are hoping to squeak into districts with some quality non-league wins and be one of the last couple teams in.”
The Panthers realize they need a win against Truman on Wednesday for a shot at a bid. The Hawks face rival Council Rock North to close out their season and try to hold on to the number two spot in the conference standings.
Neshaminy 4, Council Rock North 0
The Redskins (10-1-2) clinched the league title after shutting out the Indians (1-12) on Monday. The ‘Skins strategy of getting on the board early paid off since the game was suspended after 46 minutes of play. Reynaldo Bonilla was the first to score off an Austin Transue through ball in the eighth minute. One minute later, Transue went in on a breakaway from a Pat Raykovitz feed. Transue would prove to be hard for the Indians to handle as he scored again in the 20th minute, this time using a Dave Schaefer assist and increasing the lead to 3-0 at the half. Bonilla would connect again off a Nick Tucci free kick before the game was called.
Bensalem 4, Truman 0
The Owls blanked the Tigers on Monday. Brian Kilcoyne led the Owls with a pair of goals while Victor Molina (one assist) and Josh Peprah each added one. Jack Lee was credited with one assist, and keeper Chris Kilcoyne recorded the shutout. Jim McDowell and Greg McDowell both contributed assists. The Owls evened their league record at 6-6-1 while the Tigers fell to 1-12.
Pennsbury 2, Abington 1
GIRLS
CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE
Pennridge 1, Central Bucks East 0
The Patriots and Rams entered Monday’s highly anticipated game with just one point separating the two teams. Unfortunately, the weather conditions weren’t exactly conducive for a contest with title implications.
“Ridiculous,” Rams coach Audrey Anderson said. “It was pouring down, and there were times where you could barely see.”
Fortunately for the Rams, Marissa Sheva scored four minutes into the first half before conditions worsened, and it turned out to be the game winner as 76 scoreless minutes followed.
“The rain was definitely a factor for both teams,” Anderson said. “It was so sloppy, girls were sliding, and there were non-intentional fouls.”
The rain didn’t drown out the Patriots fight to claim the top spot in the league, however. “They fought hard,” Anderson said of the Patriots. “Both teams fought. It was messy, but a good game.”
As a result of the win, the Rams – after East held the top spot for the last two weeks - regained the top spot in the conference as they improved to 9-2-2. Both teams finish league play on Wednesday. The Rams will face North Penn to earn the title of conference champions.
“We’re just going to play our game,” Anderson said. “The girls are so focused and they are not looking any further than Wednesday.”
The Patriots, who fall to second place with a 9-3-1 mark, will take on Central Bucks South on Wednesday.
North Penn 1, Central Bucks West 0 (2 OT)
The Maidens claimed their second league win as they upset the Bucks 1-0 on Monday night in a thriller that lasted 97 minutes. The two teams were knotted 0-0 for the duration of the game as well as through the first overtime. Finally, seven minutes into the second overtime, Haley Mangiaruga caught the Bucks’ goalie out of position and scored the game winner from 30 yards out.
The Maidens, who improve to 2-8-3, will visit Pennridge on Wednesday while the Bucks (7-5-1) take on third place Hatboro.
Hatboro Horsham 4, Quakertown 2
The Hatters scored a pair of first half goals in their victory over the Panthers on Monday. Gina Mallinder and Ramsey McMenamin each powered in a goal before the 25th minute. In the second half, the Hatters scored back-to-back goals in the 64th and 65th minute as Marykate Bateman and Tory Adlam found the net. The Panthers never gave up, however, and they scored a pair late in the half when top-scorer Shannon Gibat connected for both goals (Mikaila Skaroff assists).
Panthers’ keeper Erinne Finlayson had a commendable showing in goal, turning away 11 shots. Lauren Brophy, Ally Gutekunst and Sydney McNutt each tallied an assist for the Hatters, who improved to 8-3-2 in the league (9-4-2 overall) and remain in third place. Hatters coach Kate Lamplugh applauded the efforts of her team, especially seniors Bateman and Adlam as well as the determined play of the Panthers (2-10-1 SOL).
AMERICAN CONFERENCE
Springfield 1, Upper Moreland 0
The Spartans ended the Golden Bears’ late season surge on Monday as they blanked the Bears 1-0. Paige Morrison scored for the Spartans near the end of the first half, sending the Spartans into halftime with the narrow lead. Ten minutes after the second half began, the officials called the game due to the rain, and the Spartans came away with the victory. Springfield (4-9) picks up their fourth league win while Upper Moreland falls to 7-6 in the league.
Wissahickon 4, Norristown 0
No one in the American Conference will be able to catch up with the Trojans, who are officially the league champions after shutting out the Eagles on Monday. The Trojans (12-1) lead the league with 36 points. They will close their regular season at Upper Moreland on Wednesday.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Pennsbury 2, Abington 0
The Falcons downed the Ghosts 2-0 on Monday after Uche Onouha scored a pair of goals within one minute of each other in the second half. Lexi Brown had assists on both. The Falcons improved to 10-2-1 and remain in second place in the conference while the Ghosts fall to 4-9.
Council Rock South 2, William Tennent 1
The Golden Hawks improved their league record to 7-4-1 after beating the Panthers in an abbreviated game in the pouring rain on Monday. Nikki Caffey and Taylor Dillon each registered a goal for the Hawks. The Panthers fall to 5-8 in the league.
Bensalem 2, Truman 1
The Owls rallied past the Tigers (0-12) in a tightly contested league battle on Monday. The teams went to the half knotted 0-0. Ashlee Kohn was the first to score for the Owls, using an assist from Amanda Myers. The Owls wouldn’t hold the lead long as the Tigers answered back and tied the game with 16 minutes remaining. A few minutes later, Bree Rock found Kohn, who scored the game-winner for the Owls (2-10).
Neshaminy 2, Council Rock North 0
Jess Kelly scored a goal that turned out to be the game winner at the 41:40 mark, using a Gabby Farrell assist. Kelly put the finishing touches on a big day, connecting for her second goal at the 67:15 mark, this time using a Katie Suchodolski assist. The conference champion Redskins (13-0) remain perfect in league play.
