NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Pennsbury 4, Council Rock South 1
The Falcons were thrilled with their convincing win over the Hawks, who took second place in the conference in 2011. Pennsbury started off its scoring run with an early unassisted goal by Lexi Brown. The Falcons would continue to find the net with goals from Megan Engeland (Brown assist), Emily Wunder (Cassandra Berger assist) and Alexa Moors (Uche Onuoha assist).
The Falcons jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Golden Hawks’ Rebecca Davey scored with only seconds remaining, using a Paige McDowell assist.
Pennsbury coach Kaitlyn Battiste called Wednesday’s win a team effort.
“Council Rock South is always a great team, and I wasn’t expecting to have this opportunity,” Battiste said. “We were fortunate and they hit the posts a few times.
“We had four really beautiful goals from four different players who made something out of nothing.”
The Falcons are still undefeated in the league and hope to stay that way after Friday’s game against defending conference champion Council Rock North.  (Check the Suburban One Sports Facebook page for a photo of the combined Pennsbury and Rock South teams as they worked together to Kick Out Cancer...

William Tennent 2, Bensalem 1
Tennent’s Meghan Murphy scored a goal in each half to lift the Panthers to a 2-0 lead midway through the second half. The Owls did respond with a goal late in the half to make it a one-goal game, but they weren’t able to connect again.
Tennent’s coach Dan Russo said, “We were really down. We played excellent on Monday against Pennsbury, but today we didn’t play that well.”
The Panthers are preparing for a tough matchup on Friday against Neshaminy while Bensalem will face Council Rock South.

 Neshaminy 7, Abington 0
The Redskins received a well-balanced attack in Wednesday’s 7-0 win over the Ghosts. Gabby Farrell started the scoring with an assist from Megan Schafer. Schafer continued to orchestrate the offense by scoring two goals and recording two assists. Other goal scorers for the ‘Skins were Katie Suchodolski, Erin Farrell, Alyssa Antonelly and Jamie Mason. CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE

Pennridge 3, Hatboro Horsham 2
The Rams might have thought they had already won the game when they went up 3-0 within the first 42 minutes of the game. Marissa Sheva scored the opening goal and Natalia Pinkney scored late in the first and again early in the second half.
The Hatters were not going to give up though.
About 15 minutes after Pinkney’s goal, Marykate Bateman found the net after a pass from Gina Mallinder. Bateman scored again with two minutes remaining for the 3-2 final.
Pennridge coach Audrey Anderson admits she was a little nervous.
“We know they have some great players and we took (our lead) for granted,” she said. “They didn’t even stop with two seconds left - they were still in front of the goal mouth. They kept fighting.”
Hatters coach Kate Lamplugh was proud of her team’s relentless effort and lauded the efforts of Batemen and midfielder Gina Mallinder.
“Yes, there were a few missed opportunities, but they didn't give up, even when it was 3-0 in the beginning of the second half,” the Hatters’ first-year coach said. “These girls are going to battle through every game they play.”
Anderson is not ready to say she hopes to be a frontrunner in the league, noting, “It’s too early to tell. You can’t count anyone out yet.”
The Rams have yet to compete against Central Bucks East and West, teams Anderson is anxious to see in competition.

Central Bucks West 3, Souderton 0
Scoring first for the Bucks was Kelsey Horst assisted by Shae McCarty. McCarty found the net to put the Bucks on top 2-0 after a feed from Carmen Telesco. McCarty struck again, this time using an assist from Kelsey Ojert to make a 3-0 lead. Keepers Grace Bendon and Kyra Bergere combined to stop three shots. The Bucks will face Pennridge on Friday in a key Continental Conference matchup.

North Penn 0, Central Bucks East 0 (2 OT)
This league battle ended the same way it began, deadlocked at 0-0.
“It was a very difficult game,” CB East coach Paul Eisold said. “We had about seven shots- they had two, and we had about 10 corner kicks.”
Eisold commended the Maidens’ defense but says his team was “unable to convert.” It is bound to be interesting when these teams face up again later in the season.

Central Bucks South 2, Quakertown 0
The Titans and Panthers remained tie 0-0 until South’s Kelsey Mariner capitalized on an opportunity from Margo Fox fifteen minutes into the second half. Nicki Weiss later assisted Fox on a goal to make it a 2-0 game. Panther keeper Erinne Finlayson had an outstanding night, turning away 14 shots. West held an 18-8 advantage in shots on goal.

CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE

Pennridge 1, Hatboro 0
Rams coach Pete Valimont admitted his team might have gotten a little lucky.
“We got lucky in a sense,” the Rams’ coach said. “We scored in the first ten minutes.”
Justin Moldovanyi was the Ram to find the back of the net in this contest, and the game remained scoreless thereafter.
Valimont credited Hatboro for playing a great game.
“They did a real good job attacking and putting pressure on us,” he said. “It was a hard fought win.”
The Rams’ coach couldn’t say enough about the efforts of his keeper Zach Jarrett.
“Our goalie had a lights out game,” Valimont said. “(Zach) was unbelievable - it was an all-star performance.”
Valimont is happy to have Jarrett back in the net after he missed most of last year due to a surgery. This season alone he has four shutouts under his belt, and the Rams are looking forward to seeing him excel as the season progresses.
