The Pennsbury girls’ team continued its dominance at the state level, capturing its fifth title in seven years on Saturday. The Falcons finished with 47 points while second place Unionville had 72. Senior Olivia Sargent successfully defended her state crown, crossing the finish line eight seconds before Downingtown West’s Aislinn Devlin. The win avenged last weekend’s second place finish to the Whippet junior. Pennsbury senior Hannah Molloy (sixth) and Mary Webb (ninth) also finished in the top 10 out of the 226 runners who completed the race.
On the boys’ side, Central Bucks East senior Jake Brophy used a late burst to edge Downingtown West’s Jaxon Hoey, edging his district rival by just one second after winning by four seconds over the Whippet senior last weekend. The Central Bucks West boys’ team captured the bronze, finishing behind only Downingtown West and North Allegheny. Council Rock North (fifth) and Central Bucks East (eighth) also had top 10 finishes.
