SOL Boys/Girls XC Wrap (10-13-12)

Check out some of the strong showings of SOL runners in Saturday’s invitational meets.

The Pennsbury girls' team finished third with 114 points in the elite Eastern States Champions race in the Manhattan Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, finishing behind only Tatnall (Del.) and Fayetteville-Manlius (N.Y.). Senior Sara Sargent finished fourth overall, posting a time of 14:38.6. Freshman Maddie Sauer was 19th with a time of 15:09.7, sophomore Erin O'Connell was 26th with a time of 15:25.7 while freshman Hannah Molloy was 31st with a time of 15:36.5. Junior Erica Gray and senior Elizabeth Wedekind finished 34th and 35th with times of 15:39.9 and 15:40.3 respectively. It is Pennsbury's best finish ever in the prestigious race.

The North Penn girls’ team finished third out of 34 teams with 115 points in the Manhattan Cross Country Invitational Varsity ‘F’ Race on Saturday, finishing behind Lincoln-Sudbury (Mass.) and Nannet (N.Y.). North Penn finishers were Courtney Kern (13th, 15:41), Ali Valenti (17th, 15:51), Phoebe Clowser (22nd, 15:56), Melanie Vlasic (26th, 16:04), Jenna Reimer (37th, 16:22), Brianna Mengini (40th, 16:26) and Janki Patel (51st, 16:37).

Central Bucks West captured the boys’ team title at Saturday’s 57th Annual William Tennent Invitational, finishing with 100 points. Tennent finished second (113), followed by Pennridge in third (115) and Bensalem in fifth (152). Wissahickon finished seventh (175) while Upper Dublin was eighth (183) and Council Rock North finished 10th (211). Neshaminy was 12th (32), Central Bucks South finished 17th (483) and Upper Moreland was 18th (490).

CB West senior Chris Berry captured the individual title with a time of 15:30.20 while Bensalem senior Brad Rivera and junior Kyle Francis finished third and fourth with times of 15:54.80 and 16:00.70 respectively. Upper Dublin senior Francis Ferruzzi was fifth (16:04.80), and West’s AJ Morgan (16:15.70) was eighth with Pennridge junior Joseph Logue rounding out the top 10 in 10th place (16:18.00).

Other SOL runners finishing in the top 30 were Tennent junior Mike Kane (11th, 16:18.80), Bensalem senior Pratik Patel (12th, 16:23.00), Wissahickon junior Tristan Marcelis (13th, 16:23.20), Wissahickon freshman Lukas Marcelis (14th, 16:25.40), Upper Dublin junior Steve Williamson (15th, 16:27.00), CB West freshman Brian Iatarola (16th, 16:30.40), Tennent senior Henry Colby (18th, 16:30.90), Pennridge junior Mike Tatarowicz (19th, 16:32.30), Pennridge junior Matt Schulberger (20th, 16:33.60), Tennent sophomore Charlie Anderson (21st, 16:33.90), Pennridge junior Jeff Henderson (24th, 16:37.60), Tennent junior Jesse Coleman (25th, 16:39.10), Neshaminy sophomore Eric Chapman (26th, 16:39.10) and Rock North senior Zack Keller (28th, 16:42.30).

On the girls’ side, Tennent finished second out of nine squads with 56 points. Our Lady of Good Counsel captured first place with 51 points. Upper Dublin was third (70), Wissahickon was fourth (85) and Hatboro-Horsham was sixth (171). Wissahickon freshman Lotte Black was the top SOL finisher, capturing third with a time of 18:52.80. Tennent sophomores Julia O’Donnell and Karlie Brasch finished fifth and sixth, posting times of 19:29.60 and 19:44.30 respectively. Upper Dublin sophomore Marissa Holl was seventh (19:45.50) and Hatboro senior Megan Schneider finished eighth (19:48.30).

Other SOL runners finishing in the top 30 were Upper Dublin junior Isabel Uribe (13th, 19:59.70), Wissahickon senior Jessica Quesenberry (14th, 20:06.70), Upper Dublin sophomore Candice Ionescu (16th, 20:12.20), Upper Dublin freshman Emily Wu (19th, 20:23.30), Wissahickon senior Nicole Schaefer (20th, 20:24.50), Tennent sophomore Abby Miller (21st, 20:25.20), Tennent sophomore Jen Rutkowsky (22nd, 20:27.50), Tennent senior MaryKate Killoran (25th, 20:34.60), Wissahickon senior Marissa Fritz (26th, 20:38.00) and Upper Dublin junior Jacklyn Lillo (29th, 20:44.60).
