7th PIAA FOUNDATION CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL
Pennsbury captured the team title in the girls’ Gold Division (Class AAA) with 78 points at the prestigious PIAA Foundation XC Invitational in Hershey on Saturday. Mount Lebanon (90 points) finished second and Strath Haven (133 points) was third. Central Bucks South finished ninth out of 29 teams (333 points) while Pennridge (376 points) was 14th. Pennridge junior Marissa Sheva was the SOL’s top finisher, capturing third with a time of 18:51. Pennsbury’s Olivia Sargent (8th, 20:00) and Hannah Molloy (9th, 20:02) were the other SOL runners finishing in the top 10.

The top SOL team finish in the boys’ Gold Division (Class AAA) at the PIAA Foundation XC Invitational was Pennsbury. The Falcons finished fifth with 177 points, trailing North Allegheny (31), Lower Dauphin (136), State College (151) and Freedom (169). Quakertown finished 11th (372 points), Bensalem was 12th (403 points), Central Bucks South was 13th and Neshaminy (454 points) was 17th out of 30 teams. Pennsbury’s Sam Webb was the top SOL finisher, capturing seventh place (16:35).

Briarwood Invitational
Central Bucks East captured the team title in the Girls’ Championship Division at the Briarwood Invitational on Saturday, finishing with 28 points. Great Valley was second (53 points) while North Penn took third place (58 points). East’s Elizabeth Huuki won the individual title with a time of 19:37.77. Teammates Tate Dawson (20:04. 35) and Elizabeth Morris (20:23.86) finished second and third respectively. North Penn’s Ali Valenti was fourth with a time of 20:28.05 and teammate Phoebe Klowser was sixth (20:31.10) while East’s Meghan Willcoxon finished 10th (21:07.52).
Other SOL runners were North Penn’s Jenna Reimer (11th, 21:17.97), East’s Hannah Morris (12th, 21:24.70), East’s Jackie Kinkead (15th, 21:33.40), North Penn’s Mikaela Vlasic (16th, 21:36.38), East’s Louis Huuki (21:38.87):, North Penn’s Sarah Tung (21st, 22:31.07), North Penn’s Emily Mesaris (22nd, 22:55.00) and North Penn’s Tara McLaughlin (26th, 23:12.38).
Upper Dublin’s Emily Stewart was the top finisher in Division 1 of the Briarwood Invitational, posting a time of 21:08.85 and finishing seventh. Upper Dublin finished second as a team with 103 points, behind only Padua Academy (27 points). Council Rock South captured third place with 143 points while William Tennent was 10th out of 18 teams. Hatboro-Horsham, Plymouth Whitemarsh and Neshaminy also competed. Upper Dublin’s Lucille Ionescu finished ninth (21:12.82).
Other SOL runners in the top 50 were Council Rock South’s Maura Wandling (15th, 21:31.57), Upper Moreland’s Brittany Finn (16th, 21:34.67), Rock South’s Elizabeth Sauers (17th, 21:34.88), Rock South’s Lia Chak (19th, 21:37.10), William Tennent’s Judy Mabone (23rd, 21:48.42), Upper Dublin’s Marissa Holl (27th, 21:58.05), Upper Dublin’s Adelie Ionescu (34th, 22:09.47), Upper Dublin’s Sara Smith (35th (22:10.14), William Tennent’s Alyssa Ruffalo (40th, 22:17.24), Upper Dublin’s Isabel Uribe (43rd, 22:25.07) and Rock South’s Georgina Garvey (48th, 22:37.08).
Council Rock North senior Ross Wilson captured the individual title in the boys’ Championship Division at the Briarwood Invitational, posting a time of 15:51.47. Rock North, the lone SOL team in the Championship Division, finished fourth out of eight teams with 93 points. Other Rock North runners finishing in the top 30 were Rock North’s Brian Arita (15th, 17:11.50), Rock North’s Sean Griswold (18th, 17:29.75) and Rock North’s Robert Simmons (19th, 17:31.10).
William Tennent captured second place in the boys’ Division I at the Briarwood Invitational, finishing two points behind La Salle with 95 points. Council Rock South was fourth (161 points), Central Bucks East was fifth (163 points), Central Bucks West (178 points) was seventh and Hatboro-Horsham (192 points) was ninth out of 17 teams. Plymouth Whitemarsh and Upper Moreland also competed.
Hatboro-Horsham’s Casey Comber finished second with a time of 16:35.18 behind only Highland Regional High School’s Steve Maine (16:01.23). Central Bucks East’s Jake Brophy (16:39.33) finished third, East’s Connor Sands (8th, 17:17.32) and Tennent’s Mike Kane (10th, 17:22.85) also posted top 10 finishes.
Other SOL runners finishing in the top 30 were Tennent’s Eli Segal (13th, 17:33.87), Rock South’s Andrew Hanna (16th, 17:38.38), West’s Brian Iatarola (20th, 17:51.25), Zack Halisky (21st, 17:55.10), Rock South’s Mike Boggs (22nd, 17:55.54), Tennent’s Jesse Coleman (25th, 18:03.19), Tennent’s Nicholas Jara (26th, 18:03.85), Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Dan Shalala (30th, 18:08.13).
