SOL Carpenter Cup Softball Wrap (6-22-21)

The SOL Carpenter Cup softball squad was 1-1-1 on Tuesday.

In SOL Carpenter Cup softball action Tuesday, the SOL lost its first game of the day, tied its second and won its third via forfeit.

 

In the SOL’s 10-3 loss in its opener, Delaware North took a lead it would not lose with a five-run third inning. The SOL managed just five hits – two by North Penn sophomore Reyna Doherty, who finished the game 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.  Pennsbury junior Quinn McGonigle tripled and scored a run. CB South’s Marlena Hacker was 1-for-1 with two runs scored.

 

In its second game of the day, the SOL erupted for six runs in the fifth inning to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 7-3 lead. Mercer County answered with a run in the fifth and three more in the bottom of the sixth to knot the score.

 

Pennsbury junior Caitlyn Martell led the SOL’s eight-hit attack, finishing the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored. McGonigle had the big blow in the fifth inning, ripping a triple and finishing the day 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Council Rock North’s Jayme Bordner was 1-for-1 with a double and run scored. North Penn’s Sophia Collins contributed a sacrifice fly. Central Bucks East’s Amelia Funston and North Penn’s Annabelle Smink each contributed an RBI. Neshaminy’s Carena Barr was 1-for-2 with a run scored out of the leadoff spot.

 

The SOL picked up a forfeit win over Philadelphia PCAAF.
