Batters Ride Ferris Wheel and Bank on Ruddock in Season Opening Romp of Visiting PW

By Plymouth Whitemarsh Class of 2011 alum Scott Samuel David Weiss

WARMINSTER, Pa- Jeff Blizzard has seen incredible strings and times of being outplayed during his eight seasons coaching Plymouth Whitemarsh. Chris Hammes achieved perfection in a set as a sophomore in February 2008, and Julius Selfinger graduated in June 2012 with a 30 from Jan.31, 2012. Blizzard's 2009-2010 squad captured the Suburban One Continental/ American crown on the final roll and shared with Norristown.
Now, senior Joey Galleo is the lone member of the 2012-2013 squad who had been on PW's 2009-2010 roster.  Meanwhile, Hatboro-Horsham returned Jon Chandler, Connor Ferris,  and anchor Mike Ruddock after bidding farewell to Joe Chandler and Tyler Crews. Hatboro Horsham rolled to a 3-1 (2,420-2,171) season opening victory against the Colonials. Thunderbird Lanes in Warminster has not been keen nor gentle to the Colonials during the past eight seasons and the trend continued in the first set of this season opener. Hatboro-Horsham seized a 861-636 romp against the Colonials. Ruddock showed he is capable of leading the Hatters by recording a hambone(five Consecutive strikes) during frames four through eight en route to a half-both 210. Ferris added 177 and Jim Bailey tallied 173, plus Chandler notched 156 and Corey Bressia scored 145 for the Hatters.
Galleo had controlled his two-handed approach towards 171 for the Colonials. Jake Gum(127), James Strouse (123, demoted after first frame), Dom Procaccino (123), and Josh Pierce (110) also contributed for PW. The  Hatters led by 129 after five frames and a 200 pin advantage after seven. PW's 636 is believed to be the lowest total pitfall in a game in program history. Galleo, however, honed on his two-handed skill and assisted in  PW rebounding to a second set 784-750 victory. Entering the seventh frame, Galleo rolled six consecutive strikes by recording nine-spare,    finishing with a half-both 237. Procaccino  tallied 177 and Joe Watson  replaced Strouse with 154 for PW. Ruddock struggled for consistency, yet he placed 178, Ferris pushed 156, Bailey found 151, Vessels scored  141, and Chandler could not find his engine with 121 for the host Hatters.
In the third set, Galleo had zero issues finding his groove by posting 226 for a 634 series, except Bressia's 190 and Ruddock's 197 helped seal a 809-751 victory, propelling the Hatters to a 3-1 match win against the Colonial (2,420-2,171). This match had been the second consecutive season opener between PW and Hatboro-Horsham at Thunderbird Warminster. The Colonials hosted Council Rock South at Facenda-Whitaker Lanes in a 2010-2011 season  opener and opened at Penndel Lanes against Reshaping in 2009.
