SOL Cross Country Wrap (9-29-12)

The Council Rock North girls’ and boys’ cross country teams captured the team titles at the 27th Annual Council Rock Invitational while the Pennsbury girls won the Carlisle Race of Champions. Check out the SOL performers who excelled on Saturday.

The Council Rock North boys’ squad captured the team title in the Class AAAA division at the 27th Annual Council Rock Invitational with 50 points while Central Bucks West finished second (116) and Pennridge was third (137). Council Rock South was fifth (155), Souderton Area finished sixth (223) and Neshaminy was seventh (267). Wissahickon (220 points) was third in the Class AAA division while Quakertown finished fourth (231) and Upper Moreland was 10th (478).

Individually, Rock North had the top two finishers with Mac Emery finishing first with a time of 15:46.3 and Ross Wilson coming in second with a time of 16:07.3. Central Bucks West’s Chris Berry finished third with a time of 16:14.2. Other SOL runners finishing in the top 30 were:

On the girls’ side, Council Rock North also walked away with the team title in the Class AAAA division, finishing with 51 points. Central Bucks South (73) was second, and Council Rock South finished fourth (125). In the Class AAA division, Wissahickon won the team title (113 points).

Council Rock North’s Kate Scott captured the individual title, posting a time of 18:40.9. Central Bucks South’s Kaitlin Poiesz finished second (18:56.2), and Wissahickon’s Lotte Black was third (19:12.8). Other SOL finishers in the top 30 were:

The North Penn girls’ squad competed in the Six Flags Wild Safari Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. In the girls’ Varsity A division, comprised of the largest schools, North Penn finished third behind only Lenape Regional (N.J.) and Syosset (N.Y.) with 91 points. Top finishers for North Penn were Ali Valenti (12th, 19:09), Melanie Vlasic (16th, 19:13), Phoebe Clowser (18th, 19:25), Brianna Mangini (22nd, 19:38), Colleen McGovern (23rd, 19:46), Janki Patel (28th, 20:03) and Jenna Reimer (52nd, 20:54).

The Pennsbury girls’ team captured the title in the Carlisle Puma Champions Race with 20 points. Individually, the Falcons captured third through eighth places. Freshman Maddie Sauer finished fourth with a time of 18:40.77 while senior Sara Sargent was fourth (18:50.68). Finishing fifth was freshmen Hannah Molloy with a time of 19:03.21. Freshman Olivia Sargent finished sixth (19:11.52), senior Elizabeth Wedekind was seventh (19:22.90) and junior Erica Gray was eighth (19:24.92). Freshman Bailey Balmer finished 14th with a time of 19:41.47.

The Upper Dublin girls’ squad captured fifth in the Carlisle Puma Challenge with 210 points. Freshman Emily Wu was Upper Dublin’s top finisher, finishing 21st with a time of 20:25.57. Marissa Holl (38th, 20:55.28) and Isabel Uribe (40th, 20:56.21) also finished strong in the race that included 260 runners.

The Upper Dublin boys’ squad finished 18th in the Carlisle Puma Challenge with 422 points while William Tennent finished 21th (427 points). Upper Dublin’s Francis Ferruzzi finished fifth overall with a time of 15:52.42. William Tennent’s top finisher was Mike Kane, who finished 40th overall with a time of 16:55.72.
