#1 CHELTENHAM 60, #11 HAVERFORD 40
Bob Schaefer called it the ‘CC Show.’
Senior standout Ciara ‘CC’ Andrews led the Lady Panthers with 33 points in a brilliant individual effort. Eighteen of her points came at the foul line where she connected on 18-of-21 shots, but even before the parade to the foul line began, Andrews was unstoppable, scoring 10 first-quarter points as the Lady Panthers sprinted to a 15-6 lead. Christina Coleman connected for five of her eight points in the quarter.
“We were much quicker than they were, and they couldn’t get in front of us, so they kept fouling us,” Schaefer said.
The Lady Panthers took a 28-13 lead into halftime and blew the game wide open with an 18-9 third quarter. Senior Jiana Clark scored eight of her nine points in the second half. Andrews was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Lady Panthers, who fell to North Penn in the quarterfinals and then lost to Mount St. Joseph Academy in a consolation game.
In an attempt to turn the tide, Lady Panthers planned a ‘White Out.’
“We wanted to change anything that we could to try and get out of the funk we’ve been in,” Schaefer said. “Overall, the kids played a little bit better.
“Playing Haverford and coming up with a comfortable win will hopefully bring back a little of our mojo.”
Jaclyn Gantz led Haverford with 12 points. Her final point came with 18 seconds – it was her career 1,000th point.
