There were some classic battles on Monday. Check out all of the SOL results.
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0
The Indians were hoping to celebrate capturing an SOL National Conference crown on Monday night. Instead, it was the Golden Hawks celebrating their third consecutive win and just their second since the schools split in 2002. The win vaulted Rock South into second place in the National Conference standings.
“It was both our Senior Nights, and both teams were really excited to play,” Rock South coach Lisa Belz said. “I’m really pleased with how the girls played. They stepped it up, and that’s what you’re looking for at the end of the season.
“I always tell them – unfortunately, I don’t have a huge squad, and I don’t have a lot of experienced players to come off the bench, so the girls that are in – I need 100 percent out of them, and they gave it. They came out with a ton of heart and played the best they could play. That’s all I could ask for.”
Belz made several changes to her lineup after a 4-0 loss to Neshaminy on Oct. 5. The Golden Hawks responded by picking up some important wins.
“The Pennsbury win was big for us, and that gave us a little confidence,” she said.
A 3-0 non-league win over Lower Merion on Saturday also was a shot in the arm.
“We kind of were in a no-lose situation today because we know we’re the underdogs,” Belz said. “We know that North has pretty much clinched the league – they need one more win, and no one is going to catch them.
“Our goal is to hopefully try and get second place. A lot of things need to fall into place, and we can only do what we’re capable of.”
Alexis Carroll scored the game’s only goal on the rebound of a goalie save with just over five minutes remaining in regulation.
“It was very, very nerveracking,” Belz said. “I called timeout and tried to calm them down. It’s so exciting, and they want to celebrate, but there’s still five minutes left.
“North is a really strong team, and they’re very well coached. I knew they were capable of coming back. Luckily we were able to hold them. It was very exciting.”
According to Belz, the win was a team effort, but she lauded the efforts of several players, including goalie Kelly Schlupp.
“Alexis Carroll had a great game all over the field,” Carroll said. “All of our seniors – Alex Agasar, Kiera McGovern, Lynda Nitka – played their hearts out. I was so happy for them. It was a big win for our team.”
The Golden Hawks, who improved to 9-4, will face Bensalem on Tuesday. The loss was the first of the league season for the Indians (10-1), who need just one win in their remaining three games to clinch the conference crown.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2, WISSAHICKON 1 (OT)
Kayla Kenney scored on a penalty stroke with just over six minutes remaining in regulation to give the Titans the dramatic win in a showdown of two of the district’s premiere squads.
“I feel like I played – it was so intense,” Titan co-coach Marie Schmucker said. “It was such a high-tempo game. That should have been the district championship game, and I’m sure we’ll see them again.
“That was the most exciting hockey I’ve seen in a long time. It almost looked like a college game – it was so high tempo. You don’t see games like that. It was a great game and a great win.”
The Trojans were down a player for the final 12:59 of regulation and all of overtime after senior standout Lauren Becker received her second yellow card.
“Wissahickon played very well for being down one player,” Schmucker said. “We took advantage of getting in the passing lanes, and we executed well, but they played very well. There were times you couldn’t tell they were down a player.”
A recap of the scoring would show that it was the Trojans getting on the scoreboard late in the first half on a goal by Emily Gallagher (Zoe Kale assist). The Titans didn’t knot the score until Kenney connected on a corner shot with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.
Schmucker lauded the strong performances of several players.
“Megan Hamilton played out of her mind,” the Titans’ co-coach said. “Katie P (Poiesz) had a great game, and our goalie – Gina Brigo. It starts with the goalie. She clears the ball out, and you counterattack.
“It went from the goalie to the backs to the midfield to the forwards. It was a high-tempo game. They played intense the whole time. They executed, they were distributing the ball well, and they played as a unit, and that made a big difference. There were no individuals out there.”

As a result of the win, the Titans improved to 13-1-2 while the Trojans are 15-2 overall.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0
Kim Hitchcock (Heather Zezzo assist) scored during corner play with 21:30 remaining in the second half to propel the Bucks to the big win.
“Their goalkeeper is really good,” West co-coach Kim Sinnamon said of Maddy Wagenfeld. “She was making a lot of good saves, and (co-coach) Alison (Stone) said, ‘Heather, run in and get on the pads,’ because it was the same thing over and over, and she was making the saves.
“So Heather ran, got on the pads, tipped it away from her and Kim put it in goal. It was perfect.”
The win was the second in as many meetings for the Bucks over the Hatters.
“We beat them the first time, and we saw they were beating some other teams, and we thought maybe they didn’t have the best showing the first time we beat them,” Sinnamon said. “We thought we dominated the first game.
“We’re a good team on days we play well. We came to play today, and it showed. We had a lot of people play well. The girls are still playing hard. They never let down, they never stop trying.”
Sinnamon lauded the solid showings of Eric Fiorelli in the midfield and Mackenzie Gallagher on defense. The Bucks lost a starting defender to an injury early in the game.
“We moved one of our forwards – Virginia Moore – to the back, and she just played stellar back there,” Sinnamon said. “Not only did she not let anything get by her, but she also contributed to the offense.”
While the Hatters fell to 6-5-1 in league play, the Bucks improved to 5-8.
SOUDERTON 2, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0
The Indians scored a pair of goals in a two-minute span early in the opening half on their way to the win. First it was Taylor Yoder (Alayna Brown assist) scoring. Then Yoder returned the favor, assisting on a goal by Brown to put the Indians on top 2-0 with 19:06 remaining in the first half.
“I was happy to see Alayna play hockey today – she played very well,” coach Mary Ann Harris said. “It was a good game. They were tough. In the second half, they came back with a vengeance.
“They had lots of opportunities, but (goalie) Morgan Brozena had a great game. Their goalie (Emily Guthier) played well also.”
UPPER DUBLIN 8, UPPER MORELAND 0
Emily Hitchings connected for the hat trick – all in the first half while Marie Wheatley and Kelly Cross both added two goals and an assist. Brook Callahan added a single goal, and Sydney Lang and Anna Lauer contributed assists. Upper Moreland goalie Saige Wenik turned away 15 shots while Upper Dublin’s Julia McKernan had a pair of saves. Dana Russell was not forced to make a save in a contest that saw the Flying Cardinals hold a 23-2 advantage in shots.
PENNRIDGE 3, CHELTENHAM 0
The Rams opened up a 2-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Alyssa Rosetti scored a pair of goals while teammate Addy Marshall added a single goal. Kelly Herd contributed an assist. The Rams held a 23-0 advantage in shots and an equally lopsided 16-3 edge in corners. Only the 20-save effort of goalie Emily Hawkins kept the Lady Panthers in the contest.
NESHAMINY 1, PENNSBURY 1(OT)
The Falcons struck first, going on top 1-0 after a goal by Ashlyn Stevens, but the Redskins rallied to knot the score, using a goal by Brittany Sheenan.
