The Panthers scored a pair of second-half goals to earn their first win of the young season.
“Quakertown played a great style of hockey tonight,” coach Diane Molinaro said. “All the girls showed grit and determination throughout the entire match.
“Both teams had scoring chances in the first half.”
The Panthers got on the scoreboard at the 19:15 mark of the second half with a goal during corner play when Olivia Jackson fired a bullet into the left corner of the cage, using an assist from Mackenzie Hadfield. They added a goal at the 10:16 mark.
“Anna Thompson deftly weaved her way around several Palisades defenders, brought the ball into the circle and fired a hard shot into the far corner of the goal,” Molinaro said, going on to laud her defense. “Our defense is beginning to work well together and communicate more effectively.
“Mel Olivieri played well and distributed out of our defensive end. Maddie Haley and Sydney Fondl made some great recovery saves, and Halle Frederick is a hard working freshman who is gaining valuable experience. Our forwards are connecting with our midfields nicely and generating more attacking opportunities.
“Julia Ely, Kayla Hlywiak, Claudia Tangradi, Jenn Jiminez and Brianna Nadel really stepped up to the plate tonight and made significant contributions.”
Quakertown held a 6-2 edge in corners and 16-2 advantage in shots.
Quakertown (1-3, 0-2 SOL) will be on the road at Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday night (7 p.m.).

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 7, WISSAHICKON 2
Caroline McGovern continued to work her magic for the undefeated Golden Hawks, connecting for the hat trick and adding a pair of assists.
Rock South controlled play from the outset, opening up a 5-0 halftime lead. Caitlyn Thornton put the Hawks on the board two minutes into the game, using a McGovern assist. Neither team scored for the next 15 minutes until Shannon Lind connected with a pass from Mikayla VanAken. Two minutes later, Paige Schmid put her name in the scoring column with a goal. McGovern turned a VanAken pass into a goal, and when Schmid (McGovern assist) scored in the 25th minute, the Hawks led 5-0.
The Trojans got on the scoreboard 10 minutes into the second half when Julianna Sutow scored with an assist from Sam Pak. McGovern answered with back-to-back goals before Jessica Waite found the cage for the Trojans, using an insert pass from Grace Ball.
“Our team started off the first half very slowly,” Wissahickon coach Leah Angstadt said. “The second half we were able to boost our energy and focus, and we had a very competitive half.
“Council Rock South was only able to get three shots off us in the second half, and we were able to move the ball down the field more successfully. We also improved our defensive marking in the circle. The way we played in the second half is the way we need to play the entire 60 minutes.”
Trojan goalie Wumi Popoopola was credited with 14 saves.
“She had a lot of fantastic saves,” Angstadt said.
Council Rock South (5-0, 2-0 SOL) will be at Harry S Truman on Wednesday while Wissahickon (1-3, 1-1) will host Upper Dublin on Tuesday.

PENNSBURY 7, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0
Olivia Mauro connected for the hat trick as the Falcons exploded for seven goals in a decisive win over the visiting Hatters in non-league action. Adding single goals were Nell Webber, Sammie Hackman, Maya Geller and Kate Chesney.
“Pennsbury moved the ball well down the field,” Hatter coach Laura Swezey said.
Hatter goalie Liz Wilburn was credited with 11 saves.
Pennsbury (3-1, 2-0 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Thursday in a key rivalry game, and Hatboro-Horsham (2-2, 2-0) will host Quakertown on Tuesday.

SOUDERTON 6, SPRING-FORD 1
The Indians roared out of the gate to a 4-1 halftime lead on their way to the no-doubt-about-it non-league win. Sophomores Isabella Palde and Randi Hess led the attack with two goals each. Palde also had an assist.
Courtney Kenah put the Indians on the board, using a Liz O’Hara assist. Then it was Palde scoring with a Nina Disco assist. Goals by Hess and Jess Gabriel sent the Indians into halftime with a three-goal advantage.
In the second half, the Indians received goals from Palde and Hess (Palde assist).
Souderton (2-2, 1-1 SOL) will be on the road at Cheltenham on Wednesday.
