Brynn Bonargo and Emerson McFeely scored East’s first-half goals. Hannah Erickson and Sarah Lubaczewski both scored in the third quarter for the Golden Hawks, and that would be the extent of the scoring for both teams.

2nd quarter
Emerson McFeely (CBE) 11:05 (2-0)

CR South coach Kelly Capppelano:
--On the comeback:
- “I think it says a lot about a team that goes down 2-0 and fights back to force overtime. We came out flat in the first half, but we were gaining momentum going into the third quarter. It was a physical game, and we had to adjust to that style of play. As a coach, I am always proud when my team comes to battle and never gives up in a game.”
--Props: “Sarah Freeman controlled the middle of the field for us. Newcomer Carly Conetta played strong defense, and Sarah Lubaczewski was able to score for us which is what we have been looking for. Maria Freeman and Kelly Longmore produced the spark on offense for us while goalie Taylor Hume was solid in the cage.”
Up next: Central Bucks East (2-5-2, 2-3-0 SOL) will host Pennsbury in a non-league crossover on Monday, and Council Rock South (4-2-1, 3-2-0) will travel to Souderton for a non-league crossover game on Monday.

Coach Janine Larr on the win: "It was a great team win today for us today! We have been working hard on things we know we needed to improve on, and the girls were able to incorporate those things into the game today. They really started to gel as a team and in their respective positions, which was nice to see. I’m very proud of how everyone played, and stepped up, to record a nice team win.”
--The scoring: “Junior center-forward Maeve Link scored the first goal of the game off an assist by junior forward Brooke Dougherty during corner play in the first quarter. Dougherty scored off a beautiful pass from senior mid Natalie Neumann to put us up 2-0 with 10 minutes left to play in the fourth quarter.”
--The shutout: “Sophomore goalie Keely Gallagher recorded the shutout with five clutch saves. She made several great clears to get the ball out of the circle and prevent second chance opportunities for Cheltenham.”
--Props: “Maeve Link stepped up big today and had a hand in both scoring and setting up offensive plays, which were key to getting the win. Junior forward Brooke Dougherty also played a key role and was an offensive catalyst by helping get the ball up the field and into Cheltenham's circle and finding the back of the net when Abington needed a boost. Her speed and hustle allowed us to get many offensive opportunities today. Sophomore forward Addison Harrington also showed a lot of heart and hustle in the second half with getting the ball down into the circle and shooting on goal to help set up scoring opportunities.
“Sophomore defensive back Morgan Gillette stepped up on the defensive end and made big plays to prevent Cheltenham from getting the ball in the net. Senior midfielder Sophia Afflisio also made some key plays in the midfield to help prevent Cheltenham from getting scoring opportunities.”

Central Bucks South coach Kelli Chioffe: “We had a bit of a sluggish start with the heat today, but we picked it up in the second quarter. We were glad to find the back of the goal cage on three of our 28 attempts. Their goalkeepers did a fantastic job. Hatboro-Horsham played great defense today. We keep switching positions and trying to see what will work best for our team. The coaching staff is proud of the team for keeping their composure.”
Hatboro-Horsham assistant coach Nicole Miletto: “The Hatters hung tough against CB South, but we couldn’t get the ball in the goal. We played solid defense, and again junior Madeline Lee was a standout. Junior goalies Mia Fisher and Sydney Matthews spilt time in goal and kept us in the game, but we needed more offense. We are definitely making strides in the right direction but have to put all the pieces together.”

“What a beautiful day in Northeast Philly,” Kubik said. “And what a beautiful way for (me) to come back to his Alma Mater, Archbishop Ryan High School, and get a big win.”

Bensalem coach Gary Kubik on the game: “Ava Hood started the scoring off in the first few minutes of the game with a short flick just inside the near post. It was Ava's second goal of the year. Freshman Kylie Blank, starting her first varsity game and filling in for the concussed Haley Groves, had herself a day. Kylie scored with just 4:40 remaining in the second quarter with an assist from Paige Schiefer. That goal gave the visiting Owls just a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
“We exploded in the third quarter with four goals. It started off with an unassisted goal from Giuliana Pasquarella at the 2:15 mark, followed by another goal by Blank at the four-minute mark. Pasquarella then added her second and third goals – at 5:36 and 8:48, respectively – to complete her second hat trick in the last five games. That was three goals in the third quarter for Giuliana Pasquarella to give her the team lead with eight. Then, not to be outdone, freshman Kylie Blank finished off her first ever varsity hat trick by scoring at the three-minute mark of the fourth quarter.  Kylie Blank, welcome to high school hockey!”

PENNSBURY 8, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
(Article submitted by Pennsbury field hockey)

It was the third game of the week for the Pennsbury Falcons, who were looking to come back from three consecutive, hard fought losses. The opening ten minutes of play were right on par with it being Friday the 13th - hauntingly slow and scarily sloppy.
Neither team could finish a play, and the scoreboard stood at zeros until Pennsbury's Abby Iacona decided enough was enough. She entered the circle, dodged, pulled, and had a strong shot to the far post with 5 minutes left in the first to go up 1-0.
"Iacona is a playmaker for us, and she has intensity and skill to be commended,” coach Traci Curtis said. “She broke the seal for us and lit a spark, but unfortunately came out of the game not feeling well. She left it up to her teammates to ignite from her light.”
That flame was snuffed a bit when - five minutes into the second quarter - William Tennent found the back of the cage to tie the game 1-1.
"We were having a complete breakdown on defense and parts of the midfield, and those breakdowns continued as Tennent pushed us on our heels inside the circle," said Curtis. That was the last goal the Panthers would score. The orange and black did not allow that tie to last long as 30 seconds later PHS woke up and had a great passing combination up the right side, finishing with Abby Anderer feeding Ryan Burdette to put the Falcon's up 2-1. The game was locked at 2-1 for the rest of the quarter taking the teams into halftime.
"It was not our best hockey,” Curtis said. “The first half was frustrating and hard to watch. We shook up the players in the lineup for the third quarter to see if we could fan the flame of our tiny lead. We were looking for heart.”
Burdette got them started with two minutes left in the third on some great steps to the ball and deceptive passing to feed her teammates. Ella Bray caught one of Burdette's passes and scored to put the Falcons up 3-1. Two minutes later, Allison Goldfarb was in the right place and collected a rebound to tip in, giving PHS a 4-1 lead going into the final 15 minutes.
The Falcons gained a lot of momentum in the fourth quarter and added four goals to their tally. Avalee Shumski assisted two goals - one for Ryan Burdette and one for Mallory Harrison - as she held the center and distributed the ball where it needed to go. Goldfarb assisted Alaina Bird on another rebound play as the clock wound down and Liv Coen, Ava Pinto, and Regan Rodriguez were a triple threat on a great combination for Coen to score the final goal and put the Falcons up 8-1.
"This was not a pretty at the start, but it got progressively better as time went on,” Curtis said. “It was great to see teammates stepping up and picking up the slack for one another - that is how a team needs to operate.
"We needed a win to put some air in our sails, and this was a nice opportunity to come together and truly rely on each other.Tennent did not back down and came at us hard to start. They forced our hand and really made us coaches dig and plan and strategize.
"Strong consistent play from Cailyn Reilly, Jacqueline Sullivan, and Payton Worth helped us to stay on track as well.”
The Falcons (4-3, 2-3 SOL) will travel to CB East on Monday to battle it out in a crossover game with the Patriots. William Tennent (0-8-1, 0-4-1) will host Abington on Monday.

Quakertown coach MacKenzie Moser on the game: “Ball movement was smooth today, even with a quicker surface underneath us. We maintained good control, utilized purposeful passing to teammates and continued to take the shot whenever possible.”
Up next: Quakertown (6-1, 4-1 SOL) will travel to Springfield Twp Monday for a non-league crossover game (5 pm).

Non-league
DOWNINGTOWN WEST 2, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 0

For close to four quarters, neither team got on the scoreboard, and overtime seemed like a very real possibility.
Until, that is, the Whippets capitalized on a corner with three-and-a-half minutes remaining. They added another goal shortly thereafter, and that was the beginning and end of the scoring for both sides as the Whippets went on to earn the 2-0 win.
PW coach Charise Halteman: "PW and Downingtown West battled in a tightly contested and scoreless match for 56 minutes until D-West was able to score off of a corner opportunity with 3:28 remaining in the game and add another soon after. Unfortunately, some fatigue and mental mistakes got the better of us at the end of the game, but despite the final score, it was a competitive battle and our defenders stayed composed and made strong plays throughout the game."
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh (5-2, 4-1 SOL) will travel to Avon Grove for a non-league contest Saturday (10 am).
