WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2
The Panthers seem to have the corner of the market when it comes to Friday ‘thrillers.’ A week to the day after defeating Central Bucks West in overtime, Tennent was back at it again, this time rallying from a 2-0 hole to earn the come-from-behind win.

“I told the girls, ‘You have to dig deep. That’s all we can do – dig deep and play your game,’” coach Kaitlyn Rauchut said.

The Panthers responded, scoring three unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes to earn the exciting win.

“It was great and any win feels great, but I think this showed that every single day we need to keep building, starting from the ground up,” Rauchut said. “The girls never gave up.

“Just like our game against West when we gave up a goal late in the game to tie it up, and we had to go into overtime. The great thing about these girls is they’re never going to give up. As long as they keep playing their hearts out, I can’t ever complain. They played above and beyond.

“At the end of the game, I couldn’t even find words to express how proud I was because it really came down to them digging deep and just playing.

Sparked by a goal from Alex Agasar, the Golden Hawks took a 1-0 lead into halftime. They added to that lead when Kiera McGovern scored just over nine minutes into the second half.

That’s when the Panthers came to life.

Rachael Mueller (Taylor Prichett assist) scored on a corner with 20 minutes remaining, and then it was Pritchett turning a Brittany Mitchell pass into a goal four minutes later. Pritchett (Colleen McCabe) scored the game winner on a breakaway with 90 seconds remaining in regulation to propel the Panthers to the big win.

“It was a thrilling game,” Rauchut said. “Council Rock South was playing their hearts out. I’m not saying we weren’t, but they’re a very tough opponent.

“I kept telling the girls – ‘If you want to win this game, you have to step it up. You have to play better. You have to play your game.’ In the beginning, we came out a little flatfooted, but once the girls started to get their confidence back and get in the swing of things, I felt like they played their game.”

As a result of the win, the Panthers improved to 1-0 in league play (2-0 overall) while the Golden Hawks are 1-1 overall.

BENSALEM 4, HARRY S TRUMAN 3
Haley Geller scored at the 3:48 mark of overtime to propel the Owls to the dramatic win. The two teams were deadlocked at halftime with Truman’s Nikki Herbert scoring a minute into the game only to watch Geller connect for the equalizer in the closing minutes of the half.

The two teams exchanged goals in the second half with the Owls receiving goals from Tatyana Keshanech and A.J. Ewing while the Tigers got goals from Christine Hoon (Adachi Ogbonna assist) and Lindsay Snyder.

The Owls held a 12-9 edge in shots. Bensalem goalie Stephanie Unger turned away six shots while her counterpart, Truman’s DeKantee Wreh, had seven saves.

Both teams are 1-1 overall, but the Owls are 1-1 in league play while the Tigers are 0-1.
