Suburban One Sports * Breaking News…..

The reality is that championships are never really won in a single game.  It takes a season of success to earn the title of champion.

But there is absolutely no question that there are big games along the way, and in the Suburban One League all three conferences boast that big game this week.

There is one last gasp opportunity for three teams in the SOL to earn a chance for a shared conference championship.  And those teams will get that opportunity to knock off the unbeaten conference leaders this week under the Friday Night Lights.

SOS Breaking News * Patriots take shot at potential shared SOL National Conference title against Knights
Central Bucks East (6-2, 4-1) stumbled into its conference showdown with unbeaten North Penn (8-0, 5-0) when the Patriots lost last week to Pennridge (5-3, 3-2), 24-7.

CB East - with just a single conference loss - still has a lot to say about who wins the conference outright and which teams will share the title if the Patriots can knock the powerful Knights from the unbeaten ranks.

In addition to CB East, CB West (6-2, 4-1) has a single SOL National Conference loss.

CB East enters the contest with North Penn as the No. 8 ranked 6A team in District One.  The only losses for the Patriots came against No. 6 ranked Ridley (7-1), 34-29 - and No. 12 ranked Pennridge.

The CB East winning resume shows victories over Neshaminy (28-14), No. 13 ranked CB South (24-19), No. 15 ranked Bensalem (35-26), Abington (3-0), Pennsbury (56-21), and CR North (35-7).

North Penn can clinch at least a share of the conference championship with a win over CB East.  The Blue & White close the conference season next week against No. 13 ranked CB South (6-2, 3-2).

The Knights enter the game with the Patriots as the No. 2 ranked 6A team in District One.

The North Penn resume shows victories over No. 16 Souderton (42-27), Abington (58-8), Pennsbury (35-0), No. 4 ranked 5A Upper Dublin (35-20), No. 12 ranked Pennridge (21-14), Neshaminy (42-21), Harry S Truman (48-20), and No. 9 ranked CB West (28-14).

SOS Breaking News * Owls Need to Fly By Panthers for a possible piece of SOL Continental Conference championship
Bensalem (5-3, 4-1) prepared for its biggest home game in years against unbeaten Quakertown (8-0, 5-0) as the Owls soared to a 33-13 conference victory over Council Rock South.

Bensalem - with just a single conference loss - still has a lot to say which teams will share the conference championship if the Owls can knock the Panthers from the unbeaten ranks.

In addition to Bensalem, Upper Dublin (6-2, 4-1) has a single SOL Continental Conference loss.

Bensalem enters the game as the No. 15 ranked 6A team in District One.  The Owls have suffered losses to No. 4 ranked 5A Upper Dublin (23-12), to No. 8 ranked 6A CB East (35-26), and No. 12 ranked 6A Pennridge (45-0).

The Bensalem winning resume includes victories over Norristown (28-20), Hatboro Horsham (39-0), Truman (47-18), CR North (6-0), and CR South.

Quakertown can claim at least a share of the conference title with a win over Bensalem.  The Panthers close out the conference season against Truman (3-5, 2-3).

Q-town enters the game as the No. 5 ranked 6A team in District One.

The winning resume for the Panthers includes victories over Southern Lehigh (42-7), CR North (42-7), CR South (41-13), Abington (36-20), No. 4 ranked 5A Upper Dublin (31-0), No. 16 ranked 6A Souderton, Neshaminy (35-10), and Hatboro Horsham (2-0 forfeit).

Owls/Panthers

Stay tuned.

SOS Breaking News * Golden Bears Must Claw Colonials for a potential share of SOL American Conference title

Upper Moreland (7-1, 4-1) prepared for its critical conference game against unbeaten (SOL American) Plymouth Whitemarsh (6-1, 4-0) with a key conference victory over Springfield (5-2, 3-2), 28-21.

Upper Moreland - with just a single conference loss - still has a lot to say which teams could share the conference championship if the Golden Bears could knock the Colonials out of the unbeaten conference ranks.

In addition to Upper Moreland, Cheltenham (4-4, 3-1) has a single conference loss.

Upper Moreland enters the game as the No. 1 ranked 4A team in District One.  The lone loss of the season came against No. 13 ranked 5A Cheltenham, 32-21.

The Upper Moreland winning resume includes victories over CR South (21-7), Archbishop Ryan (34-29), Phoenixville (21-19), Wissahickon (35-31), New Hope-Solebury (41-14), William Tennent (49-21), and Springfield.

Plymouth Whitemarsh can claim at least a share of the conference title with a win over Upper Moreland.  The Colonials close out the conference season with a home game against Wissahickon (2-6, 1-3).

Plymouth Whitemarsh enters the game as the No. 6 ranked 5A team in District One.

The lone loss during the season for PW was a 35-27 setback to No. 13 ranked 6A CB South.

The winning resume for the Colonials includes victories over Methacton (42-14), Norristown (49-8), New Hope-Solebury (55-0), Springfield (35-14), Cheltenham (21-13), and William Tennent (35-14).  PW had a bye in week six.

Suburban One League verison of ‘Believe it or Not’
It really is hard to believe that Neshaminy and Pennsbury are a combined 1-15 overall and 0-10 in the Suburban One League National Conference this season.

The Redskins (1-7) captured a 17-6 non-conference victory over Souderton, while the Falcons (0-8) are still winless this season.

Neshaminy is currently ranked 26th in the 32-team District One 6A rankings.  The Redskins have scored an average of 15.5 points per game and have allowed 29.4 points per game.  That math gives Neshaminy a minus 13.9 points per game.

Believe it or not.

Pennsbury is currently ranked 29th in the 32-team District One 6A rankings.  The Falcons have scored an average of 10.6 points per game and have allowed 38.1 points per game.  That math gives Pennsbury a minus 27.5 points per game.

Believe it or not.

Neshaminy has a home game this week against Central Bucks West (6-2), while Pennsbury has an away game against Abington (2-6).

Both the Redskins and the Falcons figure to be underdogs in both of those games.

Neshaminy will travel to Pennsbury for the final game of the season in two weeks at Falcon Field.  The intense rivalry between the Redskins and the Falcons will still exist but under much different circumstances this season.

These two proud and historic programs have often played for championships on that final weekend of the regular season.

This time around, though, the Skins and Falcons will meet in a game with little or no importance outside the rivalry.

Believe it or not.

Not to brag…. But (part 2)

Last week I shared that I was perfect in my picks the weekend of October 8th but feared that it would be tough to repeat that spotless record.

In fact, I predicted that I would go 10-2 with my predictions (if you can even do that) last week due to the competitive schedule in all three conferences.

And I did just that (does that make me perfect?) - I went 10-2 with the only miscues coming in Abington’s 31-21 victory over Neshaminy and Upper Dublin’s 10-7 victory over Souderton.

I predict that my record will be a perfect 13-0 this week.

Not to brag…but
