Championships are not always won at the end of the season.
It is indeed championship week for all three Suburban One League conferences this week as marquee matchups take place in the SOL Continental, SOL American, and the SOL National conferences. All three showdowns feature teams with unbeaten conferences records.
The SOL Continental Conference showdown is between unbeaten Souderton and defending conference champion North Penn. The Big Red has always found this conference opponent a huge hurdle to overcome, while the Knights are determined to defend their conference crown.
The Souderton (3-0 conference) resume includes wins over Pottsgrove (31-18), Quakertown (24-10), Hatboro-Horsham (37-8), William Tennent (17-7), Pennridge (24-21), and CB East (38-24).
The North Penn (2-0 conference) resume includes wins over Neshaminy (55-21), Pennsbury (13-3), Pennridge (37-14), CB East (49-25), and Council Rock South (36-0). The Knights lost to La Salle (42-6).
The SOL American Conference showdown is between unbeaten Plymouth Whitemarsh and surging Cheltenham. The Colonials have had two weeks to prepare for this game off a bye week, while the Panthers are hot off a thumping of defending conference champion Upper Dublin.
The Plymouth Whitemarsh (2-0 conference) resume includes wins over William Tennent (42-20), Methacton (35-7), Norristown (48-7), Wissahickon (57-7), and Upper Moreland (28-6).
The Cheltenham (2-0 conference) resume includes wins over Council Rock South (36-13), Frankford (34-17), Norristown (48-14), Quakertown (30-12), and Upper Dublin (41-7).
The SOL National Conference showdown is between conference unbeatens Harry S Truman and Pennsbury. The Tigers are currently a district playoff team, while Pennsbury rebounded from its three loss start of the season to win its last three games.
The Truman (3-0 conference) resume includes wins over Oley Charter (29-8), Council Rock South (46-7), Neshaminy (55-41), and Council Rock North (49-20). The Tigers have lost to Spring-Ford (58-19) and Academy Park (17-14).
The Pennsbury (2-0 conference) resume includes wins over CB East (21-14), Council Rock North (38-7), and Bensalem (43-12). The Falcons have lost to Academy Park (13-0), Penn Wood (38-35), and North Penn (13-3).
Central Bucks West, Abington, and Quakertown will collectively have their own championship weeks later in the month of October. The Bucks (Continental) and Ghosts (National) are both 3-0 in conference action this season, while the Panthers (American) are still in the hunt at 2-1 in conference.
Stay tuned!!!
