COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 49, NORRISTOWN 45
With 50 seconds remaining in Saturday’s wild SOL contest, Desmond Gorski found teammate Diamonte Willis with a 15-yard touchdown pass to put the Eagles on top 45-42. The play capped a spectacular afternoon for the senior quarterback, who threw for 420 yards and seven touchdowns.
While Eagles’ fans celebrated, there was the not-so-little matter of the ensuing kickoff, and in a game filled with improbable moments, the most improbable of all occurred when Kyle Hickey returned the kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and a you-had-to-see-it-to-believe-it win.
Hickey had a pretty spectacular day of his own, rushing for 239 yards and four touchdowns. The Golden Hawks needed every one of those yards to win the game and keep their district playoff and conference title hopes alive.
It was Hickey who got the ball rolling for the Hawks with a 55-yard touchdown run to spot his team an early 7-0 lead in the middle of the first quarter. A 12-yard Hickey TD run put the Hawks on top 14-0, but in a preview of things to come, the Eagles battled back with Corey Davenport corralling a five-yard Gorski touchdown pass to cut the Hawks’ lead in half.
The Golden Hawks – thanks to a Mike Stock four-yard touchdown run - took a 21-7 lead into halftime and led 35-20 heading into the fourth quarter.
A 38-yard Hickey touchdown run early in the quarter gave the Golden Hawks what appeared to be a commanding 42-20 lead. It turned out to be anything but secure as Gorski engineered four straight touchdown drives – three culminating with TD passes to Willis and the other to Derik Cross. It wouldn’t be enough as the Golden Hawks stole the win, thanks to Hickey’s kickoff return.
Willis (118 yards) and Rashon Wiggins (111) were Gorski’s favorite targets in the record-shattering day.
Council Rock South (6-3, 5-1 SOL) will face Council Rock North next Saturday in a battle with conference title implications. Norristown (3-6, 1-5) will host Truman next Saturday (1 p.m.).

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 42, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 16
In a win that earned Central Bucks East the Central Bucks Cup, Alex Gibson led the Patriots, rushing for a game-high 124 yards and three touchdowns. Also contributing touchdown runs were Owen Griffin, Myles King and Jack Lamb. The Patriots opened up a 35-0 lead early in the third quarter to put the mercy rule into effect.
The Bucks scored a pair of late TDs. Jake Reichwein caught a 58-yard TD pass on a halfback option from TJ Rakowsky. Reichwein also had a rushing touchdown.
Central Bucks East (7-2, 4-2 SOL) will travel to Quakertown next Friday. Central Bucks West (2-7, 2-4) will host William Tennent.
