Non-league
NESHAMINY 61, COATESVILLE 34
The Redskins opened up a 12-4 lead over the visiting Red Raiders after one quarter and all but put the game out of reach with a 20-11 second-quarter surge to go into halftime with a 32-15 advantage. Sydney Snyder’s eight points led the Redskins in the second quarter, and Hayley Kolk added six points. Both had a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter.
Kolk led all scorers with 21 points, which included five 3-pointers. She also had six rebounds. Snyder finished with 11 points, and Alena Cofield added eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and eight steals. Mia Raivitch also had seven rebounds and four assists. Grace Weyler finished with seven points and six rebounds. Cam Rodriguez also had six rebounds.
Player of the game: Sydney Snyder scored 11 points off the bench.
Neshaminy coach John Gallagher on the game: "Coatesville came into the game with a record of 6-3 and with a young team, much like us.
“We got off to a quick start with our halfcourt defense that led to a couple of breakout baskets by Alena (Cofield) in the first quarter. In our first quarter halfcourt offense, we got a three from beyond the arc from Mia Raivitch to get us an eight-point lead at the end of the quarter.
“Our energy continued into the second quarter when Sydney Snyder and Hayley Kolk knocked down two 3-point baskets each.
“Auslyn Wilkins keeps improving each game and gave us some really good minutes off the bench on both ends of the floor, while grabbing four rebounds. Alena Cofield used her skills in the second half to notch several assists and was the catalyst to our eight baskets from the 3-point line.”
--Props: “Sydney Snyder scored her career high of 11 points and was a jolt for us off the bench. Sydney is a very good shooter when she has her feet underneath her, and the players and coaches were happy for her with such a promising effort. Kaitlyn Wolf knocked down two foul shots in the fourth quarter to register her first varsity points.”
Up next: Neshaminy (8-2, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Bensalem for a 5:30 pm contest on Tuesday.

UPPER MORELAND 48, POTTSGROVE 26
The visiting Golden Bears took a 12-6 lead into the second quarter, and they never looked back, winning all four quarters on the way to the non-league victory.
Player of the game: Mikel Lancit scored 17 of her game-high 27 points in the first half, propelling the Golden Bears to a 26-14 lead at the intermission.
Coach Josh Adelman: “Today was a really nice team win. We had a back-to-back set of games which was kind of nice coming off the break. The girls responded to the quick turnaround in great fashion and played tremendous defense and spread the ball around on offense.
“Mikel Lancit scored 17 of her 27 points in the first half, giving us a 26-14 lead at halftime. Marie Meyer chipped in 11, and Hailey Kramer and Lianna Adames each had 5 points.
“The key to this afternoon’s game was limiting Pottsgrove to one shot and simply doing a great job on the boards. As I tell the team, these early close games have truly taught us some valuable lessons on striving to play 32 minutes, playing well defensively, and sharing the ball on offense. You always are looking for those spots in your season where things start to click in gear, and you find the ingredients needed to give yourself a chance to win. Winning those 50-50 balls, making the extra pass, every coach wants that to be part of their culture.
“Hopefully we are starting to realize what it takes to compete in every game we play. This coming week features games against Lower Moreland and Abington, two really talented teams. There are no easy games on our schedule, and the girls are competing, which is half the battle. Both games will be a great challenge for our program.”
