American Conference

WISSAHICKON 16, CHELTENHAM 14
The Trojans appeared to be on their way to an easy win after rolling to a 9-3 halftime lead. The Lady Panthers had other ideas, rallying to knot the score 14-14 with 47 seconds remaining before Laura Frankenfield, who had a monster seven-goal effort for the Trojans – won the ensuing draw and scored what turned out to be the game winner with 38 seconds remaining. Zoe Kale added an insurance goal as time was about to expire.
“When you have a 9-3 lead going into the half, that seems like a big cushion,” Wissahickon coach Chelsea Rosiek said. “But they’re high school girls, they’re young, and the maturity level isn’t all there yet.
“I’m starting four freshmen and four sophomores, so we’re pretty young. I think it’s just experience, and it’s a building block we have to get through. Once we get through it we’ll be fine.”
Rosiek and the Trojans wound up on the short end of the score in a similar game early in the season against Central Bucks South.
“We were beating CB South the entire game, and they came back and beat us at the end 15-13,” the Trojans’ first-year coach said. “I was really upset because I thought we outplayed them.
“I thought we outplayed Cheltenham the whole game, but today was the total opposite. It was totally gratifying not to get down, not to get frustrated or hectic but to put it away. It was a good feeling.”
Lauren Irvine and Zoe Gomez each scored three goals for the Trojans while Kale had a pair of goals. Bailey Weber had one goal and one assist. In addition to scoring seven goals, Frankenfield – who has made a verbal commitment to play lacrosse at Boston College – also had a pair of assists.
“I just try to encourage her to be the dominant player she’s capable of being,” Rosiek said. “I think sometimes she wants to be more of a team player – which is fantastic and I try and encourage that, but I think sometimes she holds herself back.
“She’s such a selfless player, and sometimes that gets the better of her. I tell her, ‘I need as many goals as I can get from you. If you can score eight goals, score eight goals. Don’t hold yourself back in any capacity.’ Seven goals and two assists – that’s a banner day.”
For the Lady Panthers, Sammie McManus (one assist), Gabby Szczepanek and Allie Liss each collected a hat trick. Alix Maclin and Skye Wallace both scored two goals while Emily Hawkins had one goal.
The Trojans improved to 5-1 in league play (5-3 overall) while the Lady Panthers fell to 4-2 (6-3 overall).

For the Golden Bears, Maddie Mauro and Samara Santry both scored two goals. Veronica Baez, Ashley Duff and Chelsea Mills each added single goals.
Ally Frymoyer was credited with eight saves in goal for the Vikings while Kaitlin Taylor had 12 saves for the Golden Bears.
