Central Bucks South 14, Wissahickon 6
Senior Kelly Hamilton scored five goals and contributed three assists in a superb individual effort to lead the Titans to their second win in as many outings. Junior Kayla Kenney added four goals and an assist while Casey Haegele and Taylor Michener each had two goals and two assists. Maddie Dibrino contributed one goal and one assist while Brynn Dietzal had an assist.
“I have a lot of people back this year, and we have some ninth graders that are going to make an impact,” coach Janique Craig said. “We probably should have scored more goals today.
“We took a lot of shots, and we were 50 percent, which is okay, but we should have finished more of our shots. The Wissahickon goalkeeper (Jess Scannapieco) did a really good job.”
The Titans, who led 9-3 at the intermission, held a 29-15 advantage in shots on goal.
Titan goalie Leslie Searles turned away nine shots.
“My goalkeeper has been working a lot in the offseason to replace Jess (Adcock), who was the first team all-league goalkeeper last year, and she’s doing awesome,” Craig said. “We have a great group of girls back.”
Craig went on to laud the efforts of several players in the win.
“They all are playing well,” the Titans’ coach said. “Kelly Hamilton is our senior captain who will be going to Lock Haven, and she’s doing really well. She does everything. She plays defense, she controls the midfield and she plays attack.
“I don’t have just one girl – every single girl is scoring and contributing. Everyone is a threat. There’s not just one person you can guard, which is great.”
Defensively, Hamilton’s younger sister, Megan – a freshman, is making an impact.
“She’s stepping up,” Craig said.
Haegele and Dibrino, according to the Titans’ coach, are controlling the midfield. Haegele was a first team all-league player last year while Dibrino, a D-wing, received second team honors last year as a sophomore.
“The younger girls have really stepped in and done well. We have Mackenzie Harding down low on attack, and she’s done well, and so has Devon Dietzal, who’s also a freshman,
“We’re just taking it one game at a time. We still have a lot to improve on. We just have to finish the transition, but overall, I’m really happy. We have a tough league this year, so we can’t take anyone lightly.”
Laura Frankenfield contributed the hat trick to lead the Trojans while Zoe Gomez added a pair of goals and Emily Croke, one goal.
Pennsbury 12, Villa Joseph Marie 10
The Falcons improved to 2-0 on the young season with a non-league win over the Jems. Kelsey Gumbert and Elle Fagan led a balanced Pennsbury attack with three goals each. Liz Cowley and Taylor Hickman each added a pair of goals while Jackie Sweeney scored a single goal to close out the scoring.
Goalie Liana Eyre turned away eight shots for the Falcons.
Jenkintown 13, Upper Moreland 2
The Golden Bears, who trailed 7-0 at the intermission, received single goals from both Kathryn Brunner and Lily Sgro. Upper Moreland goalie Bridge Meade turned away seven shots as did her counterpart Jess Brogan.
The Drakes were led by the three-goal, two-assist effort of Gab Coggin while Ali Mattaway (two assists) and Tori Contoudis each added a pair of goals.
