SOL Girls' Lax Wrap: 4-16-10

North Penn 14, Pennridge 3

The Maidens have yet to be challenged in Suburban One League play this season.
On Friday night, they endured a delayed start because of thunder and then played in a steady rain, but the Maidens didn’t let the weather stand in the way of another dominating effort.
Abbie Hartman was unstoppable, connecting for six goals to lead the Maidens.
“Abbie had a really good game,” coach Jami Wilus said. “She was able to control the draw, which is obviously most important, but she also found the back of the net a bunch of times.”
Rachel Shaw added four goals, and Halie Lear had a pair of goals while Dani Horn (one goal, two assists) and Steph Knauer (one goal) also got into the scoring column. Macie Hauck added an assist on a night that saw the Maidens jump out to a 9-2 halftime lead on their way to the decisive win.
“Everybody on the field seemed to be real relentless,” Wilus said. “I don’t think we played a perfect game catching and throwing – there were some sloppy plays, but I think it was the level of intensity of the game and the rain probably played a factor in the pace of the game, but I am most pleased with our defense, and that starts with our attackers re-defending and getting all the way back into the defensive end.
“I think overall our whole defensive unit played very well. They seemed to be in sync with one another. They were communicating. They were aggressive when they had to be, and they were settled when they needed to be.
“I think we were able to play at our pace. That’s what we talked about in the locker room before the game that we wanted to set the tone and come out fast.”
The Maidens held a 31-10 advantage in shots. Goalie Sarah Prall was credited with four saves.
