#1-2 VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 3, #1-7 UPPER MORELAND 0
The Golden Bears trailed the defending state runner-up Jems by just a 1-0 score at halftime, but that’s as close as they would get. The Jems tacked on a pair of goals in the second half.
The Golden Bears walked away from Friday’s game with no regrets.
“We concluded our season tonight in the same fashion that we have played all season, with grit, with heart and as a team,” coach Lisa Benvenuto said. “This group of girls plays for each other, they play for their love of the game and they don’t care who they are up against.
“They give their all day in and day out. We have a winning record of 11-9, we have our first district win and a first time appearance in the quarterfinals of AAA. The amount of pride I have for this group of girls immeasurable. “
Upper Moreland closed out its season with an 11-9 record (6-8 SOL).
