National Conference
Council Rock South 5, Abington 0
Abington held off the Hawks for 32 minutes.
“It was a pretty stale game,” said Rock coach John Oberholtzer. “They were well organized and we played flat.”
A few substitutions gave the Hawks life as they took a 2-0 lead at the half.
The second half saw renewed life for South, which scored three unanswered goals.
Chrissy Vollrath led the Hawks with three goals, while Cara Deola and Gabriele Rosenthal chipped in one each. Assists were credited to Deola, Jurewicz 2 and Erica Crosier.
Council Rock North 2, Pennsbury 0
After a scoreless first half, North’s Alexa Hone scored the game winner and Kaitlin Hannagan (Sarah Scheidell assist) banged in an insurance goal.
Despite missing Molly Phillips, Pennsbury stepped it up in the second half, but the Indians met the challenge.
“They did a good job,” said Rock coach Roman Escobar. “Everybody was working in the same page.”
The Indians and Council Rock South are now the only unbeaten teams. The two will face off Monday at 3:30 on the turf field at Rock North.
Neshaminy 6, Bensalem 0
With returning 20-goal scorer Kimber Kisselback out of the lineup since the first game against Downingtown West when she broke her tibia, the Redskins have been struggling to score.
Coach Rachel Clemens has experimented with a number of combinations without much success until Wednesday. With Neshaminy holding a slim 1-0 lead at the half, Clemens moved center back Alyssa Kirk up top with Megan Schafer.
Bingo.
The two combined for four goals.
Schafer had the lone goal of the first half on an assist by Kirk. She scored the first goal in the second half (Paige Thomas assist) and then assisted Kirk on the next two goals, before completing a hat trick on an assist from Kate McKenna. Thomas scored the final goal.
Neshaminy keeper Katina Joyce stopped two shots, while Bensalem goalie Megan Wajda turned 14 shots aside.
“I was impressed with their goalie,” said Redskins coach Rachel Clemens. “The first half we were definitely pounding at the net and she held her own.”
William Tennent 5, Harry S Truman 0 (postponed)
The Panthers were cruising along until the first half ended. When both teams were getting ready to take the field for the second half, lightning struck and subsequently the game was canceled and will have to be played all over at a later date.
North Penn 3, Central Bucks South 3
The Maidens rallied from a 3-1 halftime deficit to pull off the tie. Lizzy Kohler scored at 55:30 (assists from Gina Scotto and Megan Kelley) and Lauren Williams hit the net with less than two minutes to play to knot the score.
North Penn goalie Megan Gerhart had two saves, while CB South’s Megan Kaminski had one.
Goal scorers for South were Lauren Buchanan-Dwyer 2 and Jackie Nelms.

Upper Moreland 2, Wissahickon 2
The Golden Bears were cruising along with a 2-0 lead when Wissahickon pumped in two goals in the last six minutes the first by sophomore Cailin Grey on a penalty kick.
A few minutes later Grey score her second goal by crashing the net and popping in a ball crossed by Alexandra Schaefer to tie the game.
Two overtime periods couldn’t decide a winner.
“To Wissahickon’s credit, they stayed in the game,” said UM coach Joe Joyce.
Upper Moreland is still without the services of striker Lindsay Walder, which has further depleted an already shallow bench.
Katie Costello and Erin Dixon scored for the Bears, and keeper Leslie Weaver “stood on her head on a couple of shots” to preserve the tie.
Grey, Kelly Pierce and Meredith Brown played well at midfield for the Trojans. Senior Jackie Carradorini anchored the defense, and Rachel Stone continued her exceptional play in goal to secure the tie.
Upper Moreland has never beaten the Trojans.
“A tie is better than a loss,” said Joyce, “but it’s not what we hoped for. I felt like we controlled a lot of the game.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh 1, Cheltenham 0 (OT)
Cheltenham goalie Jay Mee Stepp turned away a ton of scoring chances to send the game into a scoreless overtime.
With 1:03 remaining in the second overtime, PW
senior Erin Bieler ruined Stepp’s perfect game when she got a feed from Jess Knudsen and scored the header for a thrilling PW victory.
Allie Melson preserved the shutout in goal for the host Lady Colonials.
Upper Dublin 5, Norristown 0
