Non-league
Council Rock North 3, Abington 0
CR North continued its strong start to the season while spoiling Abington’s season debut to improve to 3-0.
Isabel Diaz contributed a goal and an assist, with Isabella Lanza and Sarina Igval also scoring for CR North. It’s early in the season, but after graduating a strong senior class, the Indians have started to see new players growing into new roles while gaining confidence and experience.
Scoring Summary
1st half
CRN - Isabella Lanza
CRN - Sarina Igval (Isabel Diaz)
2nd half
CRN - Isabel Diaz (Audrey Rogan)
CR North coach Gavin Flannigan on the win: “Our overall play was good and we dealt with the conditions very well. We've been happy with the start to the season so far, we lost a lot of experience last year and watching players grow into their role and responsibilities on the field has been pleasing. Addison Martin, Cierra Frank and Sarina Igval have all impressed in this regard while our Senior class has done a really good job of creating the right environment across the group.”
--Generating chances: “We started well and I thought we had the better of the first half, we were able to score from a corner about 15 minUs in when Isabella Lanza connected on a header. Soon after a cross from Isabel Diaz found Sarina Igval for a second goal. At half time we knew that Abington would make adjustments and come out stronger and they dominated large parts of the second half, but we weathered the storm and were able to add a third goal when Audrey Rogan found Diaz with about 15 minutes left.”
Up next: In Thursday’s SOL openers, Abington will travel to Hatboro-Horsham Thursday, and Council Rock North will host Bensalem.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2 1 – 3
ABINGTON 0 0 - 0
Bensalem 8, New Hope-Solebury 0
The Owls may have found a go-to scorer in Adrianna Posten.
Posten, a junior, earned a starting role last season but with Bensalem graduating some key players, she’s seized on the opportunity so far this fall. After scoring the equalizer in the season-opening win against William Tennent, Posten erupted for a hat trick in Tuesday’s win over the Lions.
Posten scored twice in the first 14 minutes and capped the hat trick in the final moments of the first half.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
B - Adrianna Posten (Paige Wheaton) 7th
B - Adrianna Posten (Miranda Duncan) 14th

2nd Half

B - Rian Brunkel (Lauren Schneider) 62nd
B - Falyn Savage (Lauren Schneider) 70th
Bensalem coach Bob Crawford on the win: “Adrianna Posten led with three goals. Grace McShane played great while playing multiple positions. Our midfield of Falyn Savage, Kylie O’Neil, Jordyn Bell and defense of Shara O’Neil, Mary Beck, Kaelyn Erb, and Marieh Chavez played well, and Miranda Duncan had the shutout in goal.”
Up next: Bensalem will be on the road at Council Rock North, and New Hope-Solebury will travel to Springfield Twp in Thursday’s SOL openers.

Central Bucks East 9, Neshaminy 3
The defending District 1 4A champions started their season by falling behind to host Neshaminy, then the goals came and kept coming.
East’s high-octane attack was firing on all cylinders out of the back, paced by a hat trick from a player who spent most of last year trying to prevent goal scoring chances. Junior Taylor Roumy played outside back last season, on the opposite side of the defensive line from her twin sister Ella, but her natural position is at the top of the formation.
Roumy, along with Mia Forney and Ava Mignon, applied plenty of pressure to a Neshaminy team that’s looking to find its identity after graduating a strong senior class. The hosts didn’t give up, scoring two goals in the second half to try and get back in the game, but the East attack just wasn’t slowing down out of the gates.

CB East coach Jake Nesteruk on the win: “Fun(ish) start to the season to say the least. I'm proud of our girls for growing into this game and getting the result. It's our first go at things, and it was far from perfect, but I'm happy with the chances we created in the game and how we finished them in the second half especially. Neshaminy put us under a lot of pressure early and they're one of the best transitional teams I've seen, so this was far from comfortable in the run of play but thought we adjusted well.”
Player props: “Taylor and Mia had good days going forward, and I was happy with how Ella Roumy joined in the attack. I thought Mattie Williams and Kiera Sleicher worked off each other really well today, and Ava and CeCe Hayes put in strong shifts from the center of the park. Lots of parts of our game to sharpen, so we're looking forward to prepping tomorrow as we head to CB South on Thursday.”
Up next: In Thursday’s SOL openers, Central Bucks East will be on the road at Central Bucks South while Neshaminy will host Council Rock South.

(CB South information will be added when provided)
After posting a draw in their season opener, the Titans have put together back-to-back wins.
That didn’t mean it was going to come easy on Tuesday as they traveled to face a Hatters squad making its season debut. South took an early lead but spent the bulk of the afternoon having to find its way back in front as Hatboro-Horsham continued to find answers.
A late whistle spotted the Titans a penalty kick that ultimately provided the difference.

CBS (PK)
HH coach Chris Artman on the game: “Very tough game for us to have as our season opener against a loaded CB South team. We got off to a slow start and were down 1-0 when sophomore midfielder Courtney Rinius hammered a ball from 30 yards out beating the South keeper. CB South came right back and took the 2-1 lead into the half.”
South’s Karpinski a focus: “About 15 minutes into the second half CB South senior Riley Karpinski got on the ball just outside the box and fired a shot into the far corner to put South up 3-1. We did a good job of forcing her wide in the first half. She is a very talented player and has the ability to score every time she has the ball. You can’t keep a player like that down the entire game.”
Fighting back: “The girls did not hang their heads and kept playing. South started pressing as they had the momentum. The girls did a good job of recognizing that South was playing a high defensive line. They took advantage of this by playing over the top and getting runs in behind. Senior Lily Harvey got behind the defensive line and beat their keeper to get us to 3-2. Then with 12 minutes remaining we were again able to play in behind their defense. This time senior Ryleigh White got in on goal and tied the game 3-3.”
Late call: “CB South was awarded a PK with six minutes remaining and they went up 4-3. Unfortunate call in a game where both teams left it all on the field. Sometimes the calls go in your favor, sometimes they don’t. Proud of the girls' effort to start the season. Playing a very good and well coached team like South will benefit us as we get into league play.”
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham will host Abington Thursday, and Central Bucks South will host Central Bucks East in Thursday’s SOL openers.

LM coach Todd Hill on the game: “In the first half our defensive unit remained very disciplined in limiting GA's opportunities. Our midfield trio of Jordyn Fox, Sammy Pennisi and Quinn Rozanski did a good job at building some threatening attacks. With 11:54 left in the first half, one of those attacks led to Shannon Mahon attacking through the box and sliding the ball off to Emma Liebert. Emma made a great move and finished with the ball in the back of the net. Unfortunately, we did not have the same discipline in the second half. GA has a talented group that will take advantage of sloppy play. We have a lot to work on moving forward.”

The Falcons made a late push, but saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end Tuesday on the road. While the Colonials had to wait until the second half to score for the second straight game, this time they didn’t have a deficit to erase while doing so.
PW, which was also playing a second straight opponent from the PAC, avoided the early miscue that had cost it a goal on Friday against Methacton. Instead, the Colonial’s veteran lineup and defense held firm in the back through 40 minutes.
Then it was a spark from a new face that ignited the offense. Freshman Lori Flannery, making her varsity debut, assisted on the eventual winner five minutes into the half before adding some insurance with a tally of her own soon after.

PW - Maite Jayo (Lori Flannery) 45th
PW - Lori Flannery (Maddi Lazaroff) 55th
PW coach TJ DeLucia on the win: “Much better start from our group today. We controlled play for most of the first half but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. We have to be more aggressive and willing in front of net. At halftime, we made an adjustment up top - starting freshman Lori Flannery in the second half.”
Flannery influences scoring: “In her first Varsity appearance of the season, she put a cross in from the endline to senior midfielder Maite Jayo who had a really strong finish. Ten minutes later, junior midfielder Maddi Lazaroff put a through ball in for Flannery, who took two touches on a breakaway and calmly put it past the keeper.”
Defense stays ready: “Senior keeper Olivia Bragg didn't have to see a lot of action today but did have one big save. While we controlled play, Phoenixville did counter on us a few times and defenders Kaiane Jayo, Maddie McGuckien, Harper Reilly, and JJ Lafferty did a great job putting out any fires.”

The Panthers crossed county lines and left upper Montgomery County with a solid team effort leading to a win.
Senior midfielder Faith Greenday continues to put a notable influence on her team. The standout Alvernia commit set up the game-winning goal in the first half then added insurance on terrific individual effort after halftime.
The Panthers got another strong effort across the board as well, the defense putting up a second straight shutout to open the season.

Quakertown coach Jon Gingrich on the win: “We did a lot of little things well today from pressing from our forwards, controlling possession through our midfield and smart defensive work from our defensive line. We really played well today, but Upper Perk is coached well, and they played us hard for 80 min. It was a good win for us.”
Standouts: “Sophomore outside back Brielle Bailey. Brielle just worked all game getting down Upper Perk’s flank constantly putting pressure on the right side and sending multiple good crosses in.
“Senior Faith Greenday was again controlling our midfield, scoring a goal and assisting on another. On her goal, Faith took the ball, dribbled into space and blasted it high over there keeper.”

Souderton 1, Faith Christian Academy 0
After an offensive explosion in their season opener, the Indians found themselves in a tightly contested battle with Faith Christian on Tuesday.
Neither team could find anything offensively through the first 40 minutes and the drought extended well into the second half. Finally, it was Hannah Beckett putting a great service into the box and some determination by Cailee Cush to knock it home.
Kahlan Hurley and Cam Lobel split the shutout in goal.

The Flying Cardinals brought plenty of firepower back in their attacking end, but their opener was uncharacteristically quiet in front of goal.
That wasn’t an issue on Tuesday as UD got rolling with a big first half effort after falling behind early, then answered emphatically after the Magic got back in the game after the break. Bridget DiMartile and Payton Ward made up for lost time, the potent duo each recording a pair of goals with Ward scoring the eventual winner in the 60th minute.
It was the first victory for first-year coach Darius Gbunblee, who played college soccer locally at Chestnut Hill College following his high school career at Father Judge.

UD coach Darius Gbunblee on the win: “I thought the girls came out flying today. We played with a lot of energy and urgency. Coming into this game, I felt like we didn't capitalize on our chances in the previous game. It was great to see our offense get a few goals, highlighted by Bridget DeMartile, Payton Ward, and Emerson Smith.”

The Golden Bears have been a second half team in this early part of the season.
Of the seven goals UM has scored this season, counting Tuesday’s, six of them have come after the break. It’s not for a lack of effort in the first half, and on Tuesday, the other team’s keeper deserved some credit as Upper Merion’s Nancy Castro-Medinah turned away 12 Bears shots.
Sometimes, it’s just a matter of a player taking matters into their own hands. Upper Moreland’s Leah King and Brogan Neeley each did just that in the second half, both players turning their efforts to win the ball into a couple of much-needed goals that lifted their team to a 3-0 record.

Upper Moreland coach Lisa Benventuo on the win: “Today's match was a clear improvement from yesterday. We came out more organized, with sharp communication from the start, and were able to connect passes through our system both offensively and defensively. Our rotations were smooth, allowing us to keep a consistent level of play throughout the game.”
Finding offense: “We continue to generate strong offensive opportunities, though finishing remains an area to improve. In the second half, Leah King capitalized by winning the ball off a goal kick and striking a beautiful shot to the far post upper 90. Shortly after, Brogan Neeley intercepted a pass in our defensive half, broke away from the defense, and under pressure from the keeper, calmly placed the ball in the back of the net. It was great to see Brogan get on the scoresheet, as she and Madeline Cox have been working tirelessly on the front line to spark our attack.”
Props: “Special recognition goes to Aubrey Scarpitti and Kayla Scrum for their outstanding play today. With each game, we continue to learn more about ourselves, using that knowledge to grow and improve. Today was a solid all-around team win.”
Up next: Upper Moreland will host William Tennent in Thursday’s SOL opener.
