PENNSBURY 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2 (25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 15-10)
The Falcons moved one step closer to clinching a National Conference title as they remained undefeated in league play after Monday’s hard-fought win over the Indians. Jae Jackson led the Falcons at the net with 11 kills while teammate Lauren Pisauro added 10 kills to go along with 11 digs and three aces. Olivia Aizen had eight kills, four aces and three digs, and Audrey Stringer contributed seven kills and two aces. Amanda Pace led the defense with 16 digs while teammate Katie Webb had 13 digs. Kelsey Moulton added eight kills to a balanced Falcon attack. Setter Paige Misawic had 36 assists to go along with five digs and two aces.
SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 2 (25-21, 15-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-12)
Sparked by their tenacious defensive play, the Indians picked up their first win in SOL action, eking out the win in a seesaw battle with the Panthers.
“The girls came out strong and fought back against the Panthers as shown by an overall 55 digs,” coach Marlena Musselman said. “The momentum is back in our court, and the girls are looking to end the season with a few more wins under their belts.”
Grace Pinto led the Indians at the net with six kills while Alexa Kluka had four. Sam Cressman handed out 15 assists and also had three aces. Megan Miller led a standout defensive effort with 23 digs while Cori Watson had 10. Alexa Kluka had a pair of blocks.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, CHELTENHAM 0
Giovanna Jenkins, Emily Houck and Anna Waltz each contributed six kills to lead a balanced PW attack. Jenkins also had six digs and one block while Waltz had four aces and eight digs. Monica McLenigan led the defense with 15 digs to go along with three aces. Ryan Haney had five digs and Cindy Ly had three digs. Setter Tori Biggins had 13 assists as well as two digs while Riley Hellings had four assists and one dig. Elizabeth Keefer added four kills, two blocks and one ace.
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, NORTH PENN 0
Freshman Kaitlyn Kushman handed out 31 assists and also had a pair of aces. Senior Meghan Kaminski led the Titans at the net with 14 kills and two aces. Abby Mummert had 10 kills and six aces while Jill Danyluk had six kills and five blocks. Giuli Frendak had nine kills and one ace, and Lauren Wise had four blocks. Senior libero Jayne Mulhern had 20 passes, and Catherine Fayer had four aces.
“It was a nice match against North Penn,” coach Ulana Keer said. “It was quiet, which was unusual.”
NESHAMINY 3, BENSALEM 0
Amy Paulits led the Redskins with nine digs and seven kills while Jen Harasim added seven kills and four blocks. Kelly Mason had 11 digs to lead the defense. As a team, the Redskins had 11 aces.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2 (25-15, 25-23, 15-25, 20-25, 15-9)
The Patriots rallied from a 2-0 deficit to knot the score, but the Bucks prevailed by winning the fifth winner-take-all game. The Bucks were led by Rachel Baker with 16 kills and five digs. Caroline Hauck and Sarah Hall added four kills each. Jess West had 34 assists, and Courtney King had eight aces. Caroline Hauck went on a service run of fives points to help give West an insurmountable lead in the final set. The spirited match between the neighboring rivals was played in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.
HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-22)
Carly Black had nine kills and four service aces to lead the Hatters. Lauren Laucella had eight kills and four service aces. Kathryn Lucca contributed eight kills. Candyce Riley led the defense with eight digs and 19 passes.
UPPER MERION 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-10)
Despite the outcome, coach Mary Copelli was pleased with her team’s effort
“Wissahickon worked really hard and played as a team,” the Trojans’ coach said.
