CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 1
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
The Patriots defeated both William Tennent and West Chester Henderson in Saturday’s tri-match. The non-league win over Henderson was especially significant.
“This was a huge win for us,” coach Scott Geller said. “This has been the hump match we’ve been looking for.
“It’s a telltale sign that this group of girls can hang with the best in the district. We played with a tremendous amount of heart, tenacity, fight and biggest of all teamwork.
“It was a long day as we had William Tennent earlier in the morning, but what a great way to end the day! I couldn’t be more proud of this group of girls.”

In a hard-fought non-league matchup, the Bucks downed the Flying Cardinals. Sophia Videva (21 kills, four blocks, 10 digs) and Julia Schweibenz (11 kills, 15 digs, one block) had big matches both offensively and defensively. Deanna Mattioli (five kills, two blocks, five digs) and April Neeld (four kills, two blocks) also contributed.
“It was a very exciting and anticipated match,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “CB West and (Upper) Dublin were matched up very well with scores going back and forth. Both teams were very scrappy, letting nothing drop on the floor without some sort of effort leading into long rallies.
“I have to give my team a lot of credit for fighting in what has been a long and tough week, going to five-set matches twice before this match. A lot of players stepped up during the match, and the fact that we were getting a lot of blocks really helped our team gain some momentum.”
Setter Bryn Stek led the Cardinals with six aces, five kills and 15 digs while dishing out 33 assists. Josie Barrett helped defensively with 13 digs. The offense received a contribution from Alison Gouveia with five kills and two blocks, and Jenny McAneney turned in a huge performances with two aces, 15 kills and 16 digs.

“Jenny really stepped up as a leader and refused to go down without a battle,” Choi said.
