#19 CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, #14 DOWNINGTOWN WEST 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-16)
The opening round went exactly as scripted in seven of eight matches in the District One 4A Tournament with the higher seed winning and the lower seed going home for the season.
Central Bucks East was the lone exception, pulling off the upset of 14th-seeded Downingtown West, and the Patriots didn’t just win, they swept the Whippets on their home court.
“(We) played against a tough and talented Downingtown West team and came home with a win,” coach Kerri Rabberman said. “I am so incredibly proud of these girls.
“Things are clicking at the right time. I haven’t seen them fight for every point like they did tonight. Everyone on the court and off the court contributed and made tonight great. I look forward to seeing what they can do next.”
The Patriots will travel to third-seeded Pennsbury on Thursday for a rematch of a Sept. 25 battle that saw the Falcons eke out a win in five sets.
In Tuesday’s win, setter Anna Ritter had 23 assists, 10 digs and four aces. Jenn Krzeminski was a force at the net with 12 kills, three blocks, 10 digs and two aces. #10 CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, #23 CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21
The Bucks earned the four-set win in a hard fought battle between the sister schools.
“It’s a disappointing way to end the season.” South coach Kurt Godfrey said. “We’ve played these guys so tough all season long, and tonight West just edged it out.  Both these teams know each other really well and it’s always an intense match when we see them. A few points the other way and we have a different outcome.  Good luck to West in the rest of their season.”
Katie Hudson turned in a stellar all-around outing to lead the Bucks with 13 kills, seven service aces, 12 digs and one block. Amanda Mass also had a big night at the net with 11 kills and two blocks. Setter Ana Claricurzio had 33 assists, one ace and seven digs while Maggie Winderman led the defense with 18 digs. Also contributing to the win were Mackenzie Brooks (six kills, two aces, eight digs), Jordyn Klementovich (five aces, four digs) and Naomi Woo (three kills, three blocks).
For the Titans, senior outside hitter Alyssa Dallmer had eight kills, one block and 15 digs, and senior setter Kelly Danyluk had four aces, five kills, 30 assists and eight digs. Senior middle Julia Dennis had seven kills and four blocks, and sophomore middle Allie Burke had nine kills and three blocks. Senior opposite Isabel Miller had five kills, two blocks and eight digs. Senior Lindsay Van Fossen (11 digs) and sophomore McKenna Clow (10 digs) split time at libero.
“I couldn’t be any prouder of my seniors,” Godfrey said. “They truly stepped up this season and really pulled this team together. This group is incredibly special to me. They are the first group that I’ve had all four years of their high school career.  I’m so proud of how all of them have grown as volleyball players, and we are going to miss all of them tremendously next year. I wish them success in whatever they choose to do next and hope they come back to visit and cheer us on.
“As for our underclassmen, they have huge shoes to fill and I hope we start working right now to come back better next season. I know they are up for the challenge and want nothing more than another shot at the playoffs next year.”

Central Bucks West will travel to seventh-seeded Plymouth Whitemarsh for Thursday’s second round game.

#9 COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, #24 AVON GROVE 0
The Indians rolled to a sweep of the visiting Red Devils and have earned a second round date with eighth-seeded Garnet Valley.
"Avon Grove was a team with some weapons, but our serving and defense seemed to allow us to control the match," CR North coach Mike Adams said. "We are hoping we can go down and give Garnet Valley a great match.
"Looking for our girls to just play our game and stay focused on the game plan."
