#6 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, #11 ABINGTON 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-19)

In the third meeting between the SOL American rivals, it was the Colonials earning a sweep of the visiting Ghosts. 

PW’s attack was led by senior Amanda Busk with 12 kills and junior Marissa Storti with 11 kills. The solid defensive effort was led by a trio of juniors - Giuliana Storti with 18 digs, Brigid Keenan with 10 digs and Chloe Esslinger with nine digs. Giuliana added three aces along with fellow junior Ella Walker who ended with three aces.

“Hats off to Abington for a strong season,” PW coach Dave Stewart said. “They played with a ton of heart this year and today was just our day.”

PW (18-2, 12-2 SOL) will travel to #3 Garnet Valley on Saturday 10am in the quarterfinals.

The Cardinals took care of business in Thursday’s second round match, earning a sweep of the visiting Warriors.

Brooke Kinsley had a huge night to lead the Cardinals, finishing with 16 kills, one ace, one assist, 15 digs and one block. Madison Small contributed eight kills, one ace, 10 digs and one block while Reese Fidler had six kills and one block. Setter Kaitlyn Small dished out 29 assists and also had one kill, two aces and 17 digs. Janis Andrulonis added two kills, three aces, five digs and four blocks. Alisa Zeng (19 digs) and Lyvia Marcus (3 aces, 1 assist, 15 digs) led UD’s defense.

Upper Dublin (19-2, 13-1 SOL) will travel to #2 Unionville for Saturday’s quarterfinal match at noon.

#9 COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, #24 PERKIOMEN VALLEY 0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-11)

CR South won its opening PIAA District 1 matchup in a decisive sweep in a rematch of an early season matchup.

Nala Kauer had five aces, five kills and five digs, Olivia DeSaro had 13 kills along with 13 assists and added four aces and 7 digs. Libero Halle Wilson added 14 digs and an ace. Emelie Korn had 17 assists, two aces, three digs and four kills. The match ending kills were both doled out by senior Cara Wright.

The Ghosts earned a sweep of the visiting Patriots in Tuesday’s opening round match.
Senior Mary Carter handed out 34 assists. Sasha Moody led the way with 16 kills while Sofie Heininger added 15 kills.
