PENNRIDGE 3, SOUDERTON 0

The Lady Rams celebrated their nine seniors with a dominant team victory over conference rival Souderton.

Senior outside hitter Alexa Allelunas, according to coach Brandon Johnson, stepped up in a big way, leading the Rams offensively in the win. Senior hitters Morgan Leo, Isabella Cooper, Stella Bultje, Abbie Iannetta, Lydia Stutzman and Julia Post all contributed big time kills in the team's dominant offensive performance.
Alyssa Curry and Mia Smith were also vital to the win, dishing out assists for the team's potent offense, while senior libero Rileigh Bowen was again dominant on the defensive side of the ball and in serve receive, leading the Rams to their eighth victory of the season.

For the Indians, Alyssa Reiner led the way with 10 digs, three kills and one ace. Nikki Hamilton had four assists, one ace and one dig. Isabelle Feliciani had two aces and one dig.

“We were able to gain momentum and play very efficient volleyball in set one, but ultimately couldn't sustain that efficiency in sets two and three,” Souderton coach Cori Watson said. “We are placing our focus on making the most of our practice time before our next match against CB West.”

 

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, NORTH PENN 2 (25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8)

The visiting Knights gave the Titans all they could handle, extending them for five grueling sets.

“Tonight was a really tough match for us,” South coach Kurt Godfrey said. “We made some errors that dug us some holes, but we were able to fight back into the match.”

Junior setter Shannon Rector handed out 49 assists to go along with 18 digs. Senior outside hitter Courtney Pohl and junior outside hitter Millie Grove were unstoppable at the net, combining for 42 kills. Pohl led the attack with 22 kills to go along with two blocks and eight digs. Grove finished with a dazzling double-double (20 kills, 18 digs). Sophomore outside hitter Breckyn Lyond added three kills. Junior defensive specialist/libero Rian Grant had 17 digs, four assists and four aces, and junior defensive specialist/libero Morgan Schaefer had 10 digs.

“I am really proud of Breckyn (Lyond) and Jill (Cardinal) who stepped into a pretty pressure-filled spot when Courtney had to come out,” Godfrey said. “We talk a lot about mental toughness. and those two definitely showed it tonight.  We get two practices in a row so hopefully we can fix the errors and be ready for next week.”

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 0

The Golden Hawks bounced back from Monday’s loss to Council Rock North to earn a sweep of the visiting Owls.

Katie Rodman led the Hawks defensively with 17 digs while Edan Kauer had a team-high eight kills to go along with 11 digs. Kyleigh Bowman added five kills and five digs, and Claire Goetz had six digs. Lili Lauch contributed four aces and four digs, and Mattie Melekos had two kills and five digs.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, ABINGTON 0

Hatboro-Horsham extended its record to 7-0 with a home sweep of Abington in a tight battle.
Defensively, the Hatters were well balanced, anchored by senior Jess Howard with 10 digs, junior Grace Howard with eight digs, senior Sarah Lessig with seven and senior Jenna Robinson with six. Seniors Jess Howard and Maddy Murphy had a big night on the line with seven and three aces respectively.
Junior Nastya Tsetsko dominated the net with 18 kills aided by juniors Ava Santo and Grace Howard adding seven apiece as well as middles Jade Lauzier and Isabelle Bombas adding three and two kills to the mix consecutively.
Hatboro-Horsham was able to finish the night with a strong set three, led by senior Jess Howard serving from 15-10 straight to 25-10 but was challenged throughout the night with solid serve receive, serving and aggressive attacking by Abington. With an injury to sophomore outside hitter Kayla Jones, juniors Ava Santo and Grace Howard stepped up to round out the offense.
Hatboro-Horsham takes on Wissahickon away on Friday afternoon.
