CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2 (21-25, 25-23, 25-7, 21-25, 15-12)
The Titans – in an emotionally-charged night - celebrated Senior Night with a hard-fought win in five sets over the Golden Hawks.
“Tonight was our Senior Night, and if that wasn’t enough emotion in the building, we ended up going five with Rock South,” coach Kurt Godfrey said. “Rock South is a great team and they play defense really well. They seem to move around really well and it made for a drama filled night. This National Conference has been crazy this season and it really truly makes each match that much more important. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to continue our season in the playoffs."
Leading the Titans were Megan Manderson (20 kills, 23 digs), Morgan McCrory (two aces, 37 digs), Kelly Danyluk (seven aces, one kill, 30 assists, eight digs) and Alyssa Dallmer (three aces, six kills, eight digs).
Also making contributions were Tara Korch (one kill, one dig), Kayla Dougherty (two kills, two digs), Sydney Hauser (two kills, six blocks), Jessica Shelton (one kills, three blocks, three digs) and Caroline Choromanski (one ace, one kill, six assists).
"Megan Manderson, one of our senior co-captains, came up absolutely huge for us and had her biggest night of the season so far,” Godfrey said. “She seemed to be able to put the ball away for us whenever we needed to get out of a jam. All of those kills would not have been possible without our outstanding serve receive and defense tonight. I am so proud of all the girls who passed for us. Megan decided to help herself out a little bit too with 23 digs.
“Morgan McCrory, our other senior co-captain, continued her absolutely incredible season and ended up with 37 digs for us. That puts her over 600 digs for the season, and it’s just awesome to watch her accomplish that tonight.
“All of our seniors started tonight and every single one of them helped us get the ‘W’ tonight. Whether it was Kayla, Sydney or Tara at the net for us or if it was Caroline or Jess back row - each one of them stepped up in a moment we needed them.”
For the Golden Hawks, Natalie Kazokas had 11 kills, Celina Varian added nine kills while Hannah Sullivan had four kills and five blocks. Setter Hannah Devlin had three aces, three kills and 29 assists.
PENNSBURY 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2 (25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 17-25, 18-16)
The Falcons earned a win in a marathon match with the visiting Patriots.
Julia Vreeswyk had a huge night at the net, finishing with 19 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. She also had five service aces, seven digs and one block. Sydney Buell also came up big, finishing with 13 kills, 16 assists, five digs, two aces and one block. Cheyenne Agrio finished the match with nine kills, nine digs, three service aces and two blocks. Heather Linker led the defense with 10 digs. Jill Shuster had seven digs and two aces. Karina Knapp added five kills and one dig. Setter Kiley Buckman added 21 assists, two aces and three digs, and Princess Snorweah added four digs.
“This was a true battle tonight,” East coach Kerri Rabberman said. “Pennsbury was very aggressive and played hard all around the court.
“I am so incredibly proud of my girls tonight and their fight no matter what happened. They have been showing me so much the past few games and getting better with each touch. They worked so hard tonight and will continue to. Now it is just a waiting game to see what happens.”
For the Patriots, Jenn Krzeminski had a big night, finishing with six aces, 14 kills, six blocks and 20 digs. Emily Lunny had three aces, 27 assists and 13 digs. Devon Hall added two aces, 10 kills, 3.5 blocks and seven digs. Caitlin Kiernan added two aces and nine digs. Hanna Walentukonis added seven kills while Morgan Beakley led the defense with 19 digs and added three aces. Ysabelle Minschwaner had one ace, five kills and 10 digs, and Jess Guillen finished with two kills and 2.5 blocks.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-21)
Seniors Kayla King and Kailey Prall were recognized prior to the match for reaching historic milestones – King for surpassing 2,000 assists and Prall for 1,000 digs.
In the sweep of the Redskins, King had 28 assists to go along with three kills, two aces and 11 digs while Prall had six digs. Katie Hudson led a balanced West attack with 10 kills, two aces and three digs while April Neeld added seven kills, two aces and one block. Dana Miller had five kills, and Mackenzie Brooks added four kills, four aces and four digs.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-14)
The conference champion Indians rolled to a sweep of the Owls to close out their regular season with a perfect 18-0 record in conference play and a 20-2 record overall.
Hadley Grundman led a balanced attack with nine kills to go along with two aces, two digs and one block. Alyssa Coats added five kills, three aces and two digs. Morgan Collito (two kills, one dig) and Robin Smith (two kills, one dig) also contributed. Julia D’Apolito had 20 assists, one kill, two aces and three digs. Birdie Ligos added three digs and one kill. Carrie Kuiken led the defense with seven digs to go along with three aces. Maddy Moore and Johanna Batterton both had a pair of aces.
Continental Conference
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 2 (25-21, 25-23, 27-29, 19-25, 15-11)
The Colonials (22-0, 18-0 SOL) were extended to five sets by the Hatters, but they refused to lose, capping a perfect regular season with the five-set win.
Danielle Rippert had a big night for the Colonials, finishing with 18 kills and 23 digs. Corrine Kalala added 10 kills. Emilee Waltz contributed eight kills and 21 digs while setter Olivia Carbo had 20 digs and 19 assists.
Senior outside hitter Holly Owen had a huge match with 26 kills, 20 digs and three blocks. Junior outside hitter Katerina Yankanich also had an impressive night with 16 kills, 22 digs and three aces. Senior Libero Allison Laucella notched 30 and an ace. Sophomore setter Rachel Dittus ran the offense effectively with 46 assists on the night.
Hatboro-Horsham ended their regular season with an impressive 19-3 overall record and 15-3 league record.
SOUDERTON 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14)
The Indians celebrated Senior Night with a sweep of the visiting Lady Panthers. Setter Lauren Hamilton had 24 assists and four aces. Miranda Baronett led the attack with 10 kills to go along with seven digs. Monica Miller had three kills and three aces, and Molly McCarthy added three kills and four digs. Haley Novak and Maria Iervolino both had five kills while Tori Reiner added four kills. Talia Watson had six aces, and Becca Godshall had four digs.
Souderton closed out its regular season with a 13-7 record (12-6 SOL).
ABINGTON 3, PENNRIDGE 2
The Ghosts edged Pennridge in a five-set match to close out the regular season with a 10-8 record. Setter Anna Bantner had 40 assists, four aces and three digs. Kaylee Goodson and Kaley Ehnow both had 14 ills. Goodson also had 12 digs and Ehnow had three blocks. Grace Whitney added nine kills, one block and nine digs, and Hannah Dalton added four kills, one blocks and 13 digs. Fabi Gonzalez had 10 digs and five aces.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-22)
Maggie Weglos led a balanced UD attack with 11 kills, seven digs and four aces. Layne Morgan added five kills, one block and one dig. Setters Bryn Stek (nine assists, one ace, one kill, two digs) and Kayla Wolf (one ace, 12 assists, four digs) orchestrated the offense. Jackie McMenamin led the defense with 11 digs. Sarah Sharpe (two aces, nine digs), Shannon Yoast (eight digs, two kills) and Lin Choi (eight digs) also came up big defensively. Catie Yoast added two kills and two digs.
Wednesday, Oct. 18
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, PENNRIDGE 1 (25-19, 25-17, 25-27, 25-13)
The Titans received big performances at the net from Alyssa Dallmer (16 kills, six blocks, one ace), Megan Manderson (23 kills, 19 digs, two aces) and Julia Dennis (nine kills, two blocks) in their win over the Rams. Libero Morgan McCrory led the defense with 36 digs to go along with two aces and two kills. Setter Kelly Danyluk had 35 assists and five aces. Also contributing to a strong service game was Isabel Miller with five aces to go along with three kills and 17 digs. Sydney Hauser added three kills and two blocks.
"Tonight was a huge win for us,” coach Kurt Godfrey said. “All of the girls that played tonight contributed in a huge way! This was a game the team had circled on our calendar for a long time and its nice to pull out the ‘W.’ Pennridge is a great team and they make you earn each point you get against them. They are extremely well coached and have some big talent.
“I thought we served really well and were able to put the pressure on them in serve receive. We were able to move on defense and put the ball away when we needed a big play. Megan, Julia and Alyssa were absolutely on fire tonight at the net. Megan has been amazing for us all season long, Julia has come on so strong in the second half of the season and Alyssa has been our utility player. She (Alyssa) has played almost every position for us at some point and she has handled it all with such poise and confidence. We are lucky to have such a great athlete like her. She was our kills leader tonight and it was so nice to see her have such a big night. Isabel Miller also had a strong night for us on defense. I could talk about each player and give you positive things they did to contribute tonight. I am so proud of them and hopefully we can roll this momentum into our senior night tomorrow night."
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
William Tennent finished up its season with a 12-10 record with a Senior Night victory over Truman.
“The girls played extremely well, riding the emotions of the seniors’ last match and had a lot of fun out on the court,” coach Brian Bassler said. “The girls won 25-5, then the all senior line-up of Virsviya Volosevich, Ariel Goldberg, Elisse Hanssen, Lindsey Snock, Colleen McDermott, and Laura Cochrane played the entire time through the next two sets, gaining the win to the cheers of the underclassman.
“The girls played through tears in set one. This became an extremely tight-knit group, and I think they have formed some friendships and bonds that will last a lifetime.”
Versviya Volosevich had seven aces on the night and recorded two kills. Ariel Goldberg had 11 assists and three aces. Elisse Hanssen, one kill, one ace and three digs. Colleen McDermott, two kills, two blocks, three aces. Lindsey Snock, game high seven kills, four aces, two digs. Laura Cochrane three kills, five digs, two assists.
“These seniors will be greatly missed,” Bassler said. “They brought leadership to the program and were just all-around great people. They will not be replaced and never be forgotten. Thank you ladies for everything you did and all the accomplishments you had over the past four years of William Tennent Volleyball!”
HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, LOWER MERION 0 (25-15, 25-17, 27-25)
Hatboro-Horsham advanced to 19-2 on the season and 15-2 in conference play with a sweep win over Lower Merion.
Senior outside hitter Holly Owen and Katerina Yankanich both had 13 kills and six digs each on the night. Yankanich also added seven aces, with Owen adding two aces herself. Junior middle hitter Julia Heinze had four kills on six attempts. Senior libero Allison Laucella paced the defense with 26 digs and an ace. Sophomore setter Rachel Dittus ran the offense with 33 assists.
