COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-20-25-17, 27-25)
The Indians clinched sole possession of the conference crown with a hard fought sweep of their neighboring rival.
Junior outside hitter Ashleigh Adams had another big night, finishing with 21 kills, 11 digs, four aces, one assist and one block. Junior setter Kate Logan handed out 40 assists – a personal best for a three-set match. She also had six digs. Senior outside hitter Mary Baniewicz added 14 kills, nine digs and one ace, and senior middle hitter Sabrina Pasemann had six kills and two blocks. Senior middle hitter Julia Walton added five kills, two aces, two assists and one dig. Senior libero Mikayla Adams had 10 digs, three assists, one ace and one kill, and sophomore opposite hitter Ainsley Jordan added one kill and six digs. Senior opposite hitter Cora Lake had three digs.
For the Golden Hawks, Ava Paulson had six kills, five digs, eight assists, three aces and one block. Alissa Helverson had three kills, two digs and 10 assists, and Katie Rodman added one kill, eight digs and four assists. Emma Helverson contributed three kills, three blocks and two digs. Avery Vaughan had five kills, four blocks and one ace while Edan Kauer added two kills and six digs. Setter Kyleigh Bowman had one ace, one kill and three digs.
Council Rock North, the fourth seed in the latest District One 4A power rankings, has one match remaining at Neshaminy on Wednesday.
SOL Continental
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST (30-28, 25-22, 25-23)
The Rams remained perfect and maintained their top seed in the latest District One 4A power rankings with their sweep of a pesky Patriot squad. The win moved Pennridge to 13-0.
Senior outside hitter Isabella Cooper and libero Rileigh Bowen were again dominant in the big win. The Rams also received important contributions from senior outside hitter Lydia Stutzman and right side hitter Abbie Ianetta.
For the Patriots, Sophie Mettille had 13 assists, one ace and 15 digs. Katie Monaghan added 10 assists, three aces, six kills and five digs. Aimee Wolf had two kills and two blocks, and Anna Huchko had five kills. Caroline Eldringhoff chipped in with one ace, four kills and one block. Chloe Mettille led the defense with 19 digs to go along with one ace. Kat Montabana added six kills, Kaylynn Bryan had one ace, five kills and 13 digs while Taryn Zakrzewski had 11 digs.
“What a match,” East coach Kerri Rabberman said. “It was constantly going back and forth with each team going on their own run. It was a battle for every point, and I am so proud of my girls. They never folded and only pushed harder. This is our seventh game in a row and these girls are just battling. Losing 3-0 doesn't accurately depict how hard these girls worked. I congratulate Pennridge on a great match.”
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NORTH PENN 2 (20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-15, 15-11)
North Penn 'out-aced' CB West with 21 aces to West's 13, but it was the Bucks - who trailed 2-1 - coming away with the win in five.
The Bucks were led by the strong games of Maggie McCusker (11 kills, five aces, 35 assists, 19 digs, one block), Alexis Barklage (15 kills, five blocks, four digs) and Jada Reichwein (nine kills, 16 digs, one block, one ace). Other leaders for West were Emily Holyk (four kills, four blocks, three aces, six digs), Brie Livezey (six kills, one ace, one block), Jordyn Klementovich (two aces, 23 digs, six assists), Mackenzie Lund (five kills, four blocks) and Rachel Hu (two kills, four digs).
Non-league
PENNSBURY 3, ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 2 (21-25, 25-18, 24-26, 26-24, 15-11)
The Falcons staged a comeback to top all comebacks, rallying from an 18-8 deficit in the fourth set to win both the fourth and fifth sets, eking out a win in the non-league thriller.
The remarkable comeback began with a timeout called when down 18-8. Coach Tim Paulson recounts the sequence: The Falcons responded with a sideout and win point, Grace Sobey served for two points. Sideout. Carrissa Van Veen served for six points, three are aces the others are out of system score 1s 18-20. Carroll gets one point. Izzy Marinelli serves three points (one ace) to knot the score 22-22. We sideout right away with an izzy Marinelli back row kill to make it 23-22. Carroll sides out and scores point 23-24. We sideout, 24-24, and Kira Sendlock comes in to serve. Good serve, long rally ends with Izzy Marinelli kill. Another good serve and an Izzy Marinelli kill again. We win 26-24.
Marinelli turned in another stellar performance, finishing with 33 kills, nine digs, three blocks and seven aces. Carissa Van Veen had 41 assists to go with six kills, six aces and five digs. Janae Scott added five kills and three blocks. Grace Sobey had 11 digs and one ace. Ava Sciolla had two kills and two blocks, and Kiersten Adair added three kills and three digs. Kat Croteau had one kill and one dig, and Kira Sendlock had one ace.
