COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-14)
The Golden Hawks earned a sweep of the Panthers in Thursday’s conference opener.
Senior Leader Olivia DeSaro led in kills from both front and back row. Junior Emelie Korn ran the court and racked up 15 assists. Sophomore Mia Bacevich was a serving star with consistent runs in all 3 sets. Middle Blockers Kristina Shumakov and Toren Kotter put formidable blocks throughout the match.
Up next: Council Rock South (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman Tuesday, and William Tennent will host Neshaminy Tuesday.
SOL Continental
NORTH PENN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-12)
The North Penn Knights varsity girls team won their third straight against the Quakertown Panthers in three sets. North Penn starts the 2025 season undefeated, 3-0 and dominated Quakertown from start to finish at home.
After a 0-1 start in set one, North Penn took control of the set and never looked back, winning set one 25-12. The first set win was a team effort with seven kills across the Knights' front row hitters and five aces, with senior captain and setter Belle Mikulski leading the set with three aces. Strong blocking from junior captain and middle hitter Maya Mikulski, junior setter Sofie Potrusilova, and junior hitter Teju Arun kept the Panthers' offense in check.
Set two started with both teams trading points, and North Penn went on a 6-1 run, led by the serving of sophomore outside Holland Van Ooyen. North Penn pressed Quakertown to a 9-3 lead and continued to build on a lead, stifling the Panther offense. Senior libero Kate Donaldson kept Quakertown off the board, controlling the Panthers' swings. Sophomore setter Braelynn Jasuta recorded her first ace of the season from the serving line. North Penn quickly finished set two in 15 minutes, 25-15.
The Knights won the final set of the match, 25-12. The game was a hit fest with junior middle hitter Maya Mikulski racking five kills and sophomore outside hitter Holland Van Ooyen with three kills. Teju Arun, junior right-side hitter, got on the board with two kills for her best hitting of the season. Senior captain setter Belle Mikulski ended the match on a big swing for a convincing win, 25-12.
The North Penn program celebrated its second straight program sweep, with both the varsity and JV teams winning their matches without a loss. The program is on a ten-set winning streak.
Up nest: The Knights face Faith Christian Academy at home on Friday night, August 29th- JV at 5:30 & Varsity at 6:30. Quakertown will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, PENNRIDGE 2
After dropping two sets and falling behind 2-1, Central Bucks West rallied to win the last two sets and earn a hard-fought comeback victory 3-2 (25-19, 16-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-12) over Pennridge on Thursday.
Kya Lynch recorded 21 kills and 25 digs, along with 5 aces. Erinn McCusker delivered 29 assists, while Emma Shank had 22 assists.

SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2 (26-24, 22-25, 16-25 29-27, 15-9)
The visiting Indians eked out a win in a marathon five-set match. Zoe Folk’s 29-dig effort led the defense while setter Caroline Bache dished out 34 assists. Stella Power led a balanced Souderton attack with 12 kills to go along with 14 digs.

The Lady Patriots, meanwhile, tried to bounce from their first season loss earlier in the week but ended up dropping a heartbreaking five set match to Souderton. The defense was anchored by senior Abi Zmuda (21 digs, 5 assists, 3 service aces). Many of those digs found one of our two setters (junior Brynne Vonder Schmalz - 29 assists, 3 digs, 2 service aces and junior Sadie Jones - 17 assists, 6 digs), who in turn fed our key offensive contributors (junior Alli Minacci - 18 kills, 4 service aces, 2 digs, 1 block, junior Summer Darling - 15 kills, 12 digs, 2 service aces, junior Carmyn O'Brien - 5 kills, 17 digs, 6 service aces). Sophomore Taliya Pettigrew (6 kills and 3 digs), junior Sophie Fiander (4 kills, 1 dig) and junior Joyce Bardwell (3 kills and 3 digs) also made critical contributions to the team.
Up next: Souderton will travel to Mount St. Joseph Friday for a non-league match, and Quakertown will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday.
SOL American
WISSAHICKON 3, CHELTENHAM 1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-15)
The Lady Trojans visited the Cheltenham Panthers and notched their first win of the season.
The Trojans started slowly dropping the first set 25-23. The girls bounced back to take the next three set. Leading the way for the Trojans were sophomore Kahlan Degnan(12 Kills, 6 Aces, 8 Digs), senior Anyah Carter(12 Kills, 3 Aces, 4 Digs), and sophomore libero Kaitlyn Lang found her groove, contributing 3 Aces and 11 Digs. Sophomore setter Hannah Seder dished out 15 Assists and had 6 Digs and freshman setter Josie Shakespeare had 10 Assists and 4 Digs. Junior Callie Wright was a real spark returning from injury and contributed 10 Kills and 1 Dig. The Cheltenham Panthers brought an incredible spirit to the match and are much improved and battled till the last point.
Up next for the Trojans is a home match against Hatboro Horsham on Tuesday. Cheltenham will travel to Abington Tuesday.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-14)
Plymouth Whitemarsh earned its second win on this young season with a 3-0 win over New Hope Solebury.
PW was led by Eliza Meersman's 13 kills, 1 block and 4 aces, Ryleigh Gunn's 8 kills & 5 blocks, Marissa Storti's 9 kills, 6 digs, 1 block, and 1 ace, and Giuliana Sorti's 21 digs and 2 aces, and Ella Walker's 19 assists and 1 ace, Brooke Peduzzi's 14 assists and 6 digs.
Up next: PW will face Springfield Township next Tuesday after the holiday weekend. New Hope-Solebury will travel to Upper Dublin Wednesday.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0

The Flying Cardinals turned in a strong showing in Wednesday’s non-league match, earning a sweep of the Vikings.

BENSALEM 3, DOCK MENNONITE ACADEMY 0
The Owls swept the visiting Pioneers. The Owls were led by Reece Colgan who dissed out 21 assist and had 6 aces. The Owls attack was led by Evette Welsh with 12 kills (6 digs) and Maci Mckernan with 8 kills. Kacey Walanski secured the back row with 15 digs and followed that up with 7 aces. Piper Griffiths served well with 6 aces.
Up next: Bensalem will travel to Central Bucks South for a non-league match Friday.
