SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-21-16)

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 2
The Panthers had a 2-0 lead only to watch the Patriots rally to win the next three sets.
“This was an excellent match tonight,” East coach Scott Geller said. “Tennent came ready to play, and they did. I was very impressed with how often they were able to keep the ball in play. (They are a) very well-coached team and looking forward to playing them again.
“After being down two games to zero, my girls really stepped (up) and constantly fought for every point. It was truly a team effort tonight.”
For the Patriots, Devon Hall contributed 10 kills, nine digs and one ace. Setter Emily Lunny had a pair of aces, 19 digs and 32 assists. Jenn Krzeminski led the attack with 19 kills to go along with three aces, 17 digs and 4.5 blocks. Jess Guillen added five kills and 2.5 blocks. Morgan Beakley had a team-high 28 digs and two aces. Morgan D’Angelo contributed 11 digs. Ysabelle Minschwaner had seven kills, one ace and 19 digs.
Despite the outcome, Tennent coach Brian Bassler was pleased with his team’s effort.
“We played our hearts out, and so many of our girls stepped up,” he said. “It was a highly entertaining and fun match to watch. I wish there didn’t have to be a loser.
“We learned a lot from this match and feel as a team hopefully it will make us better heading into the second half of league play next week. One thing I know is these girls always give maximum effort and pull for each other. It is an awesome thing to see at this level.”

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-18)
The visiting Golden Hawks won the first set, but the Bucks won the next three in a hard-fought match on both sides.
West was led at the net by Katie Hudson with 15 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Kailey Prall had a busy night, digging up 50 balls. Mackenzie Brooks had seven kills, three aces and 19 digs. Setter Kayla King had 35 assists, six kills, one ace and 16 digs. April Neeld added seven kills, two aces and five digs, and Casey Taylor had five kills and seven digs.
For the Golden Hawks, Natalie Kazokas (nine kills), Celina Varian (eight kills), Lauren Koestler (five kills), Hannah Devlin (18 assists) and Bria DeSaro (28 digs) led the way.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-15)
Megan Manderson (six aces, 10 kills) and Morgan McCrory (six aces, 21 digs) led a balanced South effort in Wednesday’s sweep of the Owls. Setters Kelly Danyluk (five aces, 13 assists) and Erica Werner (one ace, 11 assists, one dig) combined for 24 assists.
Also contributing were Kayla Dougherty (three aces, three kills), Tara Korch (two kills, two digs) and Jessica Shelton (two kills).
"Tonight was a complete team effort,” coach Kurt Godfrey said. “Everyone got to play and we got the chance for some girls to play different positions.  In this new National Conference, there is no night off.  We have to make sure we keep working hard to get wins and tonight was no different.  The girls communicated well and it showed.  Tomorrow we get back to the grind and prepare for Council Rock South on Friday." 

SOUDERTON 3, PENNRIDGE 1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-22)
The Indians dropped the first set of Wednesday’s match but rallied to win the next three in a win over the Rams.
Setter Lauren Hamilton had 30 assists while Talia Watson had 24 digs and eight aces to lead the defense and the Indians’ service game. Hannah Fairweather led the Indians at the net with 10 kills while Haley Novak added eight kills, 12 digs and two aces. Monica Miller (four kills, 10 digs) and Miranda Baronett (two kills, nine digs) also came up big defensively. Tori Reiner (five kills), Molly McCarthy (two kills), Bella Mazzeo (three aces) and Maria Iervolino (six digs) also contributed.
Steph Judkins had a huge night for the Rams, finishing with 21 kills, three aces and 14 digs. Setter Maddie Mosser contributed 22 assists, five kills, four blocks and four aces, and Tori Fuchs had four blocks and three kills.
“It was a real improvement tonight with a full team effort,” coach Brandon Johnson said. “We’re on our way up, I hope.”
The Indians are 6-3 on the season (5-3 SOL).

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-12)
Hatboro Horsham upped its record to 10-0 overall and 8-0 conference with a sweep tonight against Abington.
Holly Owen contributed 15 kills on 26 attempts, two aces, one block and five digs. Katerina Yankanich added six kills, two aces, and nine digs. Libero Allison Laucella led the defense with 26 digs and an ace. Middle hitter Victoria Rapak added five kills and two blocks. Rachel Dittus had 25 assists on the night.
For the Ghosts, setter Anna Bantner had 11 assists and five digs. Grace Whitney (five kills, one block, six digs), Kaylee Goodson (four kills, four digs), Kaylee Ehnow (two kills, three blocks), Aislin Resurrecion (five kills) and Amanda Rice (six digs) made important contributions.
Hatboro Horsham takes on conference rival Plymouth-Whitemarsh Friday at 5:00 PM at PW.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-12)
Setter Bridget McTamney contributed 13 assists and three aces in the Colonials' sweep of the Knights while Olivia Carbo had 18 assists as well as 16 digs and three aces. Emilee Waltz was on the receiving end of many of those sets, finishing with 14 kills andn two aces. Lily Acquaviva added six kills, a team-high 28 digs and three aces, and Lauren Coscia had five kills and two blocks.
