QUAKERTOWN 3, SOUDERTON 2 (23-25, 15-25, 32-30, 25-20, 15-6)
The Panthers dropped the first two sets of Wednesday’s match but rallied to win a grueling third set 32-30. Sparked by that momentum, they went on to win the next two games to earn their first league win of the season.
The Panthers were led defensively by Liana Buonanno Taylor, who had 31 digs to go along with three aces. Amanda Pursel led the Panthers at the net with 13 kills and also had eight digs. Jen Sterner had 17 assists, five kills and one ace. Haley Sheehan and Katelyn Spieker both had five kills. Sheehan also had a pair of aces.
For the Indians, Savannah Bostwick had 29 digs to lead the defense. Alycia Beebe (10 kills, five digs, four blocks), Terry Wilcox (seven kills, seven digs) and Megan Freed (six kills, three blocks) also had important contributions.
The Panthers are 1-5 in the SOL (2-6 overall). The Indians are 0-6 in conference play (1-7 overall).
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 25-17)
Rachel Clow and Lindsay McIntosh led a strong showing at the net for the Patriots with 12 kills each. Hannah Lunak added eight kills while Bridget Terrel and Kelly Guillen both added seven kills. Defensively, Terrel led the way with 17 digs while Clow added 16 and Lauren Helveston and Erin Lane each added 11. Lunak had nine digs. Helveston served for a team high four aces while Clow and Lane each had three.
For the Titans, Larissa Keer dug 24 hits and received 30 serves. Cecilia Miller passed for 16 serves and dug six balls. Jax Babezki had 10 kills and seven blocks while Taylor Danilowicz had four kills.
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0 (25-5, 25-18, 25-7)
The win was the seventh in a row heading into Friday’s showdown against Council Rock North.
PENNSBURY 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-18)
Molly MacDonald led the Redskins defensively with 10 digs, two aces and a kill. Mackenzie had four kills and three blocks. Kassie Ockford had three kills, two aces and five digs. Danielle Catapano had seven digs and seven assists.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23)
Hannah Thomas led the Colonials at the net with eight kills and three blocks while Emily Houck added five and Cara Sweeney and Jocelyn Porrino both had four kills. Katie Kennedy served for five aces. Defensively, the Colonials were led by Keelin McEleney with 13 digs while Houck added 10 and Rachel Isackman and Kennedy each had seven.
ABINGTON 3, CHELTENHAM 1 (19-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-18)
The Ghosts were led by the performances of outside hitters Carley Cooper (10 kills, two blocks, 11 digs) and Claire Gassman (six kills, eight digs, three aces). Leah Simmons added three blocks and served for 13 aces. Outside hitter Lizzie Lloyd added one kill, three assists and three aces. Libero Jamie Kidd had eight digs, and setter Emma Garg had 16 assists, four digs and three aces.
HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, NORRISTOWN 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-19)
Junior Sam Jones and sophomore Cassidy Quattro led the offense with 10 and nine kills respectively, and sophomore Jaimee Stockzo added five kills. Junior Dymond Black ruled the net with four blocks. The Hatters served 20 team aces; seven from Stockzo, five from senior Hannah Steiger and four from Jones. Stockzo served 17 points and Steiger served 15. Junior Candyce Riley, sophomore Rachel DeMarco and freshman Alison Laucella led the defense with nearly perfect passing scores. Steiger dished out 21 assists.
