SOL American Conference

 

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 (20-25, 25-23,25-16, 25-21)

The Panthers won for the fourth time in five matches, rallying from an early 1-0 deficit to win the next three sets. The win avenged a season-opening 3-0 loss at the hands of the Bucks.

“It was by far the best we have played all year, especially serving,” Tennent coach Brian Bassler said. “We stayed focused and worked harder for longer tonight. We are closer to putting it all together.”

The Panthers had 14 aces as a team, led by Julia Richards with five aces. Chiara Ciccone anchored the defense with 20 digs. Mackenzie Clee had nine digs and four aces. Riley Morgan and Sara Ingham had strong matches at the net. Morgan finished with seven kills, Ingham had five kills and five blocks. Setter Julia Booz had 11 assists.

 

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-14)

The Titans received contributions up and down their lineup in their sweep of the Owls.

“We got contributions from everyone,” coach Kurt Godfrey said.

Senior setter Lizzie Shirley had 20 assists, two aces, one kill and six digs, and sophomore setter Shannon Rector contributed seven assists, three kills and two digs. Sophomore outside Millie Grove (six kills, seven digs) and junior outside Courtney Pohl (six kills, three aces, one assist) led a balanced attack. Senior middle Carly Carroll had five kills, two aces and one dig, and freshman middle Katie Canzanese added four kills. Freshman outside Breckyn Loynd added three kills, two aces and one dig. Junior opposite Dana Durkin had two aces and two digs, and senior libero McKenna Clow added two aces, one kill and five digs.

“I was really proud of our freshmen tonight,” Godfrey said. “Breckyn and Katie did an awesome job and really stepped up.

“I told the girls that tonight we get to celebrate the win, but we need to get back to practice tomorrow and get ready for the rest of our schedule.”

For the Owls, Sydney Bawuah led the way with seven kills and one ace. Crystal Dang (11 assists) and Zariah Prescott (four kills) also played well. 

 

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0

The Indians earned a sweep of the visiting Patriots.

Sophomore Ashleigh Adams posted a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs to go along with three aces and one block. Junior Cora Lake, according to coach Mike Adams, was on fire at the net, finishing with 10 kills and one block. Mary Baniewicz had seven kills, four aces and one block. Abby Jones added four kills and three blocks. Setter Kylie Tinner had 20 assists. Julia Walton had five service aces, seven digs and one kill, and Mikayla Adams added nine digs and five assists.

For the Patriots, Anna Huchko had six kills with no errors and two blocks. Vivien Agassi also had six kills to go along with three digs. Adding five kills each were Ava Napoletano, Maddy Lacouture and Caroline Eldringhoff. Eldringhoff also had a block and Lacouture contributed an ace. Setter Anna Ritter had 18 assists, five digs and one ace, and Sophia Mettille added five assists. Morgan D’Angelo’s 14 digs led the defense. She also had three aces. Kaylynn Bryan had three kills, one ace and two digs, Chloe Mettille added five digs, and Abby Killough had three digs.

 

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0

Katie Marsh played well at the net, leading a balanced Golden Hawk attack with six kills and four blocks. Claire Goetz also contributed five kills. Alissa Helverson, Emma Helverson and Katie Rodman also had strong performances, according to coach Carrie Allen.

SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-6, 25-6, 25-18)

The Indians used a balanced effort in their sweep of the Panthers.

Setter Maya Hanson had 18 assists, three aces, two kills, one block and two digs. Alyssa Reiner led the attack with 10 kills, two aces and three digs. Amelia Hanson led a strong Indians’ service game with six aces, two kills and two digs. Liv Horas had four kills, one ace and three digs, and Maddy McCarthy had three kills, one ace, one block and one dig. Christy Mack had two aces and three digs, and Hana Ekecs had one kill and five digs.

 

PENNRIDGE 3, CHELTENHAM 0

The Rams earned a sweep over a competitive Cheltenham squad to up their record to 12-0 on the season. Brenna Thomson (15 assists, four aces) and Claudia Jalosinski (seven assists, three aces) shared setting duties and, according to coach Brandon Johnson, were vital to the victory for the Rams. Junior right side hitter Abbie Iannetta led the Rams with four kills. Junior middle blocker Julia Post contributed four kills in two sets played. Sophomore Allison Saalfrank was dominant in limited action with six aces in the second set.

The Rams look to continue their strong start to the season against Wissahickon on Friday.

 

UPPER DUBLIN 3, NORTH PENN 2

The Flying Cardinals edged the visiting Knights in a grueling five-set match.

“We received contributions from everyone on the team,” UD coach Paul Choi said.

Setter Lauren Price handed out 39 assists and also had 13 digs and one ace. Sarah Randall was her top option, finishing with 17 kills to go along with 11 digs, five assists and three aces. Charlotte Qi added nine kills, 10 digs and five aces, Casey Broderick had eight kills and six digs, and Emily Senior had seven kills, seven digs, one block and one assist. Sophia Sabri had five kills, one block and one dig. Anna Faust led the defense with 25 digs, four aces and two aces. Maggie Faust had three aces and seven digs, and Sammy Silver added two aces and three digs. Aileen Kohlbrenner added four digs.
