SOL National Conference

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, PENNSBURY 1 (25-21, 25-13, 24-26, 25-19)
Mary Baniewicz delivered a monster 21-kill performance at the net, and Jill Schweizer (23 digs) and Ashleigh Adams (22 digs) led a stalwart defense in the Indians win over the Falcons. Baniewicz also had 11 digs and one service ace while Adams led the Indians at the service line with seven aces. She also had three kills. Kylie Tinner added 13 digs and three kills, and Ashley Kelly had eight digs. Abby Seiple contributed four kills and two digs, and Cora Lake had three kills and two digs. Lynne Watkins chipped in a pair of kills, two digs and three aces.
The Indians’ win sets up a logjam in the conference standings. Council Rock South owns the top spot with just one loss, but three teams – Rock North, Pennsbury and Central Bucks West – are battling it out for second place. Each team has two losses.
For the Falcons, Izzy Marinelli had a big night at the net with 19 kills to go along with three digs. Elley Torres added 12 kills, one ace, five digs and two blocks, and Brooke Burns contributed seven kills, one ace, one block and a team-high 20 digs. Abby Drewes had 17 digs and three aces, and Ashley Parry had seven kills and one ace. Jada Rice (two kills, two digs) and Kathryn Croteau (two digs, three kills, one ace) also contributed. Setter Carissa Van Veen had 35 assists and 12 digs.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-13)
The Titans turned in a strong performance in their sweep of the visiting Panthers.
“Tonight was a great match for us,” coach Kurt Godfrey said. “We were able to play with a lot of intensity all night long and keep William Tennent on their heels.
“Tennent is scrappy on defense and really made us work together as a team to score points tonight. Lizzie Shirley was absolutely great for us tonight. She quarterbacked our offense perfectly and really spread the ball around to a lot of different hitters tonight.”
Shirley – the team’s junior setter – had 27 assists, six digs, two aces and two kills. Sophomore outside Courtney Pohl and junior middle Allie Burke each had nine kills. Freshman middle Millie Grove had six kills, and senior defensive specialist Maddie Mauri had 13 digs.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2 (33-31, 14-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12)
The Golden Hawks survived a grueling five-set match to eke out a win over the Patriots.
“It was an epic battle,” coach John Wright said. “Their middle, Jenn Krzeminski, is fun to watch – she gave us fits.
“I did not think game one would ever end. I am so very proud of my girls. They showed great resiliency tonight.”
The Golden Hawks were led by Lauren Dougherty (five kills, six blocks), Ariana Ranieri (12 kills, 15 digs), Celina Varian (eight kills, 15 digs) and Ava Paulson (11 assists and 26 digs). Senior setter Paige O’Connell had 15 digs and 23 assists, including her 300th career assist.
Krzeminski led the Patriots with 24 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and four aces. Setter Anna Ritter had 40 assists, one ace, one kill and three digs. Halle Sharp added 13 kills, three digs, one ace and one block, and Vivien Agassi had 11 kills, 19 digs and two aces. Defensively, the Patriots were led by Morgan D’Angelo (30 digs), Chloe Mettille (16 digs) and Abby Killough (13 digs). Camille Larson added four kills, and Izzy Guzzi had five kills.

BENSALEM 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
Meg Klaiss had nine service aces to lead the Owls in their sweep of the Tigers. Emma LoStracco dished out 16 assists to Sydney Bawuah (eight kills), Maddie Buechner (six kills, four aces) and Zariah Prescott (five kills, four aces).
Sara Streng and Grace Fan also played well for the Owls, according to head coach Tim Linehan.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NESHAMINY 1 (25-8, 25-27, 25-13, 26-24)
The Bucks earned a four-set win that included a a tightly-contested victory in the fourth and final set.
Amanda Mass led the Bucks at the net with 17 kills and one block to go along with two aces and five digs. Mackenzie Brooks added 10 kills, 15 digs and three aces. Setter Ana Claricurzio had 35 assists, three kills and six digs. Maggie Winderman had 15 digs, six aces and two assists. Also contributing to the win were Magda Videva (four kills, one ace, one block), Maddie Corona (five kills), Naomi Woo (three kills, one block) and Grace Manganelli (three aces, four digs).

SOL American Conference

SOUDERTON 3, PENNRIDGE 2 (26-28, 25-20, 25-16, 18-25, 15-10)
The Indians celebrated Community Night with hard-fought win over the visiting Rams. CYO teams were announced and formed a tunnel for the varsity girls.
Senior Maria Iervolino led a balanced Souderton attack with 10 kills to go along with two digs. Junior Amelia Hanson and senior Jordyn Peacock both had eight kills. Hanson also had 12 digs and one ace while Peacock had one dig. Senior Erin Brady added seven kills, four blocks and three digs. Senior Bella Mazzeo led the defense with 21 digs and three aces. Junior setter Maya Hanson had 38 assists, seven digs, one ace and one kill.
“Souderton outlasted Pennridge in a back and forth match,” Pennridge coach Brandon Johnson said. “The Rams fought hard to the very end but could not pull out of several long scoring runs by the Indians in game five.”
The Rams were led by junior outside hitter Emma Tirjan (16 kills, four aces) and sophomore opposite hitter Izzy Cooper (17 kills, one block). Junior setter Kara Allelunas contributed 45 assists.

NORTH PENN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0
The visiting Knights earned a sweep of the Panthers.
For the Panthers, senior Jenny Starzecky had 10 reception passes, nine digs and two blocks. Sophomore Grace Wilson had a team-high 23 reception passes to go along with three digs. Senior Alex Whalen had five kills, six digs and 10 reception passes, and senior Mackenzie Mahler had nine assists, one ace and six digs. Senior Giacinta Barndt contributed one block, one kill, two digs and six reception passes. Junior Savannah Wood had six reception passes. Also contributing were sophomore Kara Gallagher (one ace, two kills, three digs, two reception passes), junior Madison Carty (one ace, two digs), sophomore Abigail Sicher (two kills) and junior Abigail Macmullen (three digs, two reception passes.

ABINGTON 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-10)
Kaley Ehnow’s 16 kills and two blocks led the Ghosts in their sweep of the Trojans. Setter Izzy Reilly had 24 assists.
