CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, SOUDERTON 1 (31-29, 24-26, 26-24, 25-17)
For the first time in a few matches, the Lady Patriots match did not go to five sets, but the four sets certainly felt like it with East prevailing against a spirited Souderton squad.
There was no shortage of impact players from East, starting with setters Jillian Walworth (21 assists, 10 digs, 2 service aces) and Sadie Jones (10 assists and 2 digs).
“Sadie's performance was noteworthy since she was asked to come in as an emergency setter after the first set due to an injury to starter Mia Mettille, and she confidently handled that pressure packed situation,” East coach Andy Helveston said.
On the other end of those sets were the middle "twin towers" of Ali Minacci (8 kills and 6 blocks) and Reese Coxey (7 kills and 4 blocks) and the senior outside hitters of Sophia Schwartz (12 kills and 6 digs) and Regina Mathur (10 kills, 18 digs and 3 service aces). Summer Darling (6 kills and 3 digs) had her best match of season, Carmyn O'Brien (11 digs, 2 kills, 1 service ace) demonstrated her agility by playing two different roles (DS and RS hitter), and the updated law firm of Haridas and Zmuda anchored the defense (Arya Haridas finished with 30 digs, 3 assists and 2 service aces and Abi Zmuda, fresh off the injured reserve list, chipped in 17 digs and 4 service aces).

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 0
The Colonials travelled to New Hope and earned a sweep that, according to coach Dave Stewart, wasn’t as easy as the score suggests.
“(We) walked away with a three-set victory, but that doesn’t tell just how close New Hope was to taking a couple of those sets and extending the match,” the PW coach said.
The two teams played in a PINK OUT match to honor those who suffer from Breast Cancer, those who have beaten it and those who have unfortunately lost their battle with the disease.
“New Hope hosted a wonderful event, and we were glad to be a part of it,” Stewart said. “We know that a match with New Hope will always be a battle and tonight was no different.”
PW was led by Amanda Busk 12 kills, Marissa Storti six kills and Eliza Meersman four kills. Giuliana Storti led the defense with 17 digs and six aces, Chloe Esslinger had eight digs and Brooke Peduzzi ended the evening with eight digs and nine assists.
PW improves to 11-2 (7-2 SOL) and will host Springfield Township HS on Tuesday as the team celebrates its four seniors. New Hope-Solebury (10-5, 5-5) will host Central Bucks South in a non-league match Monday.
WISSAHICKON 3, CHELTENHAM 1 (25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-10)
The Wissahickon Lady Trojans traveled to Cheltenham to battle the rapidly improving Lady Panthers. The Trojans vowed to come out with positive energy from the first serve after starting slowly in recent loses to PW and Upper Dublin.
Behind the steady and consistent play of senior captain Aly Wines, the Lady Trojans took the first two sets. Returning back to the court from injury, senior Rachel French and fellow senior Sam Boyd provided a spark on defense as the team was missing two starters to illness.
The Lady Panthers battled valiantly to win the third set 20-25. The Lady Trojans regrouped between sets and came out with renewed focus for the fourth set. Sophomore Elle Coughlin had some great blocks and hits to set the tone. Senior Jadyn Kamara was the hero of the set going on a 13-point serving run to close out the set 25-10.
Up next for the Trojans (3-9, 3-6 SOL) Friday is an out of conference match versus Radnor. Cheltenham (1-10, 1-8) will host Little Flower in a non-league match Monday.
