SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-28-19)

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19)

The Panthers won for the fifth time in seven matches, earning a sweep of the Jems in a non-league match Saturday.  Making the win especially impressive was the fact that the visiting Panthers rallied from a 15-5 deficit in the opening set to earn the win.

“It was a really good comeback for us today,” coach Brian Bassler said. “There were lots of great rallies and volleyball today.”

Chiara Ciccone had 20 digs while Mackenzie Clee had 13 digs, five kills and three aces. Sara Ingham had 10 kills and five blocks, and Grace Marsland had eight kills. Setter Julia Booz had 15 assists and Julia Richard had 10. The Panthers also received strong matches from Christina Sienkiewicz (nine digs) and Sara Cummins (eight digs). Brianna Zysk had her best offensive match with five kills.

“Riley Morgan played super smart today, adjusting to a lot of balls and playing good defense while fighting an injury,” Bassler said. “I’m really proud of the girls and their effort as a team today.”
