SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-4-18)

SOL National Conference

PENNSBURY 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-17)
Elley Torres led a balanced Falcon attack with 10 kills to go along with six digs in a sweep of the Panthers. Brooke Burns added eight kills, two service aces and five digs, and Izzy Marinelli had six kills. Abbie Drewes and Carissa Van Vee led the Falcons’ defensively with seven digs each. Van Vee also had 22 assists and one kill while Drewes added four service aces.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
Sharing setting duties for the Golden Hawks in their sweep of the Tigers were Paige O’Connell (eight assists, three kills, one ace) and Ava Paulson (seven assists, two kills). Bria DeSaro led the defense with eight digs, and Katie Rodman added five.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-11)
The Patriots received contributions from the whole team in their first win of the season. Anna Ritter had 26 assists, two kills and five digs. Jenn Krzeminski had eight aces, 10 kills, two blocks and four digs. Halle Sharp added six kills and three digs. Vivien Agassi also had four kills and two digs. Camille Larson had three aces and two kills. Maddy Lacouture and Izzy Guzzi also added offense at the net. Abby Killough had three aces and four digs while Megan Lunny and Chloe Mettille each added four digs. Morgan D'Angelo led the defense with seven digs and added four aces as well.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 (25-22, 26-28, 25-8, 17-25, 15-9)
The Bucks needed five sets to eke out a win over their neighboring rival in a spirited early season match.
Amanda Mass turned in a monster performance at the net, finishing with 20 kills, three blocks and two digs to lead the Bucks. Setter Ana Claricurzio handed out 35 assists to go along with six aces, two kills, one block and four digs. Mackenzie Brooks added six kills and five aces, and Naomi Woo had three kills and eight blocks. Juliana Stumpf contributed five kills and three aces. Maggie Winderman led the defense with 10 digs, two aces and two assists, and Magda Videva chipped in five kills.

SOL American Conference

SOUDERTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (26-24, 25-26, 25-17, 25-18)
The Indians picked up their second win of the young season, using a strong service game to earn the hard fought win over the Flying Cardinals.
Hanna Ekecs and Maria Iervolino each had four aces while Bella Mazzeo and Maya Hanson had three each. Iervolino also led the Indians’ attack with nine kills, two blocks and seven digs. Ekecs added a pair of digs. Hanson, the team’s setter, added 29 assists, 11 digs and one kill, and Mazzeo contributed nine digs. Amelia Hanson added seven kills and six digs, and Jordyn Peacock was also a force at the net with five kills and four blocks.
For the Flying Cardinals, Sydney Jones led the way with 11 kills, one block, one ace and two digs, and Charlotte Qi added eight kills, three aces, one assist and seven digs. Setter Sarah Randall had 29 assists, five digs, one ace and one kill. Shannon Yoast (five kills, three aces, three digs) and Annie Faust (one kill, one ace, 14 digs) also contributed.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, NORTH PENN 0
The Hatters defeated the Knights in straight sets but had to fight through each against a relentless North Penn squad. Junior Cam Wild led the Hatters’ offense with 15 kills and three aces. Junior outside hitter MaryKate Scully added nine kills, and junior opposite Jule Gibbons contributed four kills. Junior middle hitter Kayla Dougherty had two blocks and junior middle hitter Rickelle Wescott had one. Junior setter Grace Wuillermin had 25 assists while senior setter Rachel Dittus added five.
Hatboro-Horsham will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Thursday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, ABINGTON 1 (24-26, 25-14, 25-12, 25-19)
The Colonials dropped a tightly contested opening set but came back to win the next three, earning a win in a battle of last season’s conference co-champions.
Aja Smith led the Colonials with 12 kills and 21 digs, and Lily Acquaviva added 11 kills, 11 digs and one ace. Setter Sydney Melillo had 43 assists to go along with two aces. Defensively, the Colonials were led by Sophia Repholz with 24 digs and four aces.

PENNRIDGE 3, WISSAHICKON 0
The Rams used a strong service game and timely defense to earn a sweep of the Trojans. Setter Kara Allelunas led the Rams with seven aces while junior opposite hitter Emma Tirjan chipped in with four kills and five aces.
