SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-6-16)

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 2 (25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 16-25, 15-10)
The Patriots appeared to be on their way to an easy win after opening up a 2-0 lead, but the Vikings had other ideas, rallying to win the next two. The Patriots responded by edging their visitors in the fifth winner-take-all set.
Hanna Walentukonis led the Patriots at the service line with four aces. Jenn Krzeminski dominated play at the net with 13 kills and 4.5 blocks. Devon Hall also had a big night with 11 kills while Jess Guillen added seven kills and five blocks. Emily Lunny had 23 assists, and Morgan Beakley led the defense with 16 digs.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-12)
The Hatters opened the season with a sweep of the visiting Golden Hawks. Leading the way offensively was Holly Owen with 14 kills on 17 attempts (.647 hitting percentage). She also had three digs and four aces. Allison Laucella led the defense with 15 digs to go along with eight aces. Rachel Dittus ran the offense with 25 assists. Middle Victoria Rapak had four kills on nine attempts (.444) and middle MaryKate Scully added two kills on two attempts (1.000) also adding two blocks.
Hatboro-Horsham (1-0) will host Cheltenham on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

UPPER MERION 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-23, 25-7, 25-14)
The Knights hung with the former SOL powerhouse in the opening set, falling by just two points. The Vikings came back to win the next two in convincing fashion en route to the sweep.
“North Penn was completely resilient and aggressive in game one, which was all about good serving and defense,” coach Brian Harvey said. “(We) lost the game, but serving the right player in the right rotation was key to getting them out of the system.
“The last two games were all about serving the right person as passing the ball became a struggle down the stretch.”
Allison Elechko led the Knights with six kills, three assists and five digs. Setter Alycia Powers had 44 assists and one dig while Torie Smith added nine digs and two kills. Francesca Dolan added five digs, and Emily Beynon had one kill, three blocks, one assist and three digs. Kim Ehleben added two kills, three assists and one dig, and Jessica Thompson had one kill and one block. Dianna Piust had one kill.
