Abington comments: Good news is sparse in these tough times. This summer's oppressive heat, combined with a stumbling economy and high unemployment rates - as well as the popularity of MTV's Jersey Shore - has left many Americans wallowing in torpor. Yet, a small ray of hope for those in the Ghost Golf community manifested today on the fairways of LuLu Country Club: Abington defeated perennial SOL powerhouse Neshaminy by the score of 197 to 204. A harbinger of the season? Time will tell.
Seniors staples Ben Cooley (37) and Richard Thorpe (39) led the team in the victory. Cooley negated a triple bogey on the third hole with three birdies; Thorpe avoided big numbers and notched two birds of his own. The highlight of the victory came from the back end of the bus: second year starters Brandon Caine (39), Nick Coyle (41), and Jake Shur (41) each played with great poise and control, a real testament of their hard work and dedication to improving their games.
