Colton Pifer Leads Pennridge to Council Rock Invitational Title
Colton Pifer and his Pennridge teammates had themselves quite a day on Tuesday at the Council Rock Invitational. Pifer walked away with the individual title, finishing with a 39 on the par 36 course.
“We saw his potential when he walked in as a freshman,” coach Tim Rimmer said. “This is my sixth year, and he was one of those kids coming in that I said, ‘This is going to be the first one – the four-year development, the four-year progression, and I really see him becoming something special over the course of the four years.’

“For him, this is a great culmination of what I’m hoping and looking forward to him accomplishing this year.”
A first team all-conference selection last year, Pifer competed on the Philadelphia Junior Tour.
“He got bumped up to their elite tour, so he’s been doing all the right things, progressing year to year,” Rimmer said. “These are the kind of things I’m just excited to see him accomplish, which then dovetails into the success of the team.
“Hopefully, the other kids will feed off of this.”
Pifer edged teammates Matt Swartz, Austin Roland and Drew Bachtle by one stroke.
“Each of them probably missed anywhere from a five to eight foot putt on the final hole, which would have put them into a playoff with Colton,” Rimmer said.
Rock South’s Mike Barychewsky and Hunter Goldberg both also shot a 40 to set up a five-way tie for second behind Pifer.
Pennridge won the team title as well. The Rams’ score of 202 was 10 strokes better than second place Hatboro-Horsham’s 212. For the Rams, it is their third year competing in the invitational.
“I had Dennis (Matika) over to Indian Valley three or four years ago, and he extended an invite to his event,” Rimmer said. “I’ve been seeing our guys just progress.
“It’s one of those things – ‘All right guys, this is one of our target events.’ It’s a great event, and it’s great competition. It’s a great test for us and where we want to be. This is an awesome accomplishment.”
