ABINGTON 211, PENNSBURY 213
(Submitted article)
It has been at least four years since the Ghosts defeated the Falcons. After a heartbreaking loss on a tiebreaker earlier this season, the Abington golf team was hungry for a win in the second conference matchup. This time, the victor did not have to be decided by a tiebreaker as the Ghosts capitalized with key scores to beat out the Falcons by two strokes. Leading the way was captain Matt Shur, who shot an even par 36 with two birdies on the day. Andy Ring shot a respectable 42, but the score could have been lower as Ring found trouble behind the intrusive trees of Yardley. Number five Jacob Taylor came in with a contributing score of 44, but the competitors would have to wait patiently as it came down to the final group once again. The final group shook hands, walked off the green and tallied up their scores, but nobody could determine how their rounds went based on facial expressions from the players. Abington finally got the win they’ve been waiting for after a long-lasting winless drought against Pennsbury. Zach O’Leary, at the number position, came in with a stellar 41 with five pars in his round. Will Breslin was not out of it with his 48 as he solidified the win for Abington against Griffin Foll’s 50.
